November 20, 201312 yr JV posted on the Orbx forum that the first product to have a P3D 2.0 compatible installer will be FTX Global. That made me really happy because I was afraid that I would have to fly above default textures for a while in P3D 2.0… ^_^
November 20, 201312 yr No. JV only talked about extra costs when he was talking about the add-on airports in which case the developers themselves have to decide if they want to be paid for the extra work that has to be done on their own airports. (Orbx doesn't make all those airports themselves but only publishes them, at least most of them.) FTX Global only needs a new installer, I presume. Well, of course I would LOVE it if Orbx would remove all baked in shadows from the textures, but if they ever are going to do that, it won't be done before monday… ^_^

I tried the iceland demo a few weeks ago, and was surprised to see three install options: FSX Prepar3D Prepar3D Version 2 Lyn the trucker FSX - XP11 - MSFS Ryzen 5900x - Asus X570 VIII Hero - RTX 4090 - G.SKILL Trident 32 GB DDR4 - WD SN750 M2 1TB + Samsung SSD 250GB - HP Reverb G2 - Win 10/64
November 20, 201312 yr Moderator Yes, all installers that intend to provide for P3D installation will have to have two choices, since the Registry entries are different... Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
November 21, 201312 yr Commercial Member Our FTX Global V1.1 installer is ready to be released possibly today. Anyone who purchased it will be able to download it for free from their FSS account. They will also be emailed. We plan to create triple-installers for FSX/P3D1/P3D2 for all our products progressively over the next 12 months, obviously with the regions being easiest to do and then the airports which will require some more re-jigging. We will also update our migration tool so that if you have our products running in FSX you can run them in side-by-side mode with P3D2 at the same time. Most of this will be free, since we don't believe in charging customers twice for the same products. Some airports will incur a modest upgrade fee if the developer spends many hours enhancing it to take advantage of P3D2 features. Cheers, John Venema

It's great to see your company's commitment to a continued and developing platform. Now can you talk some wordly sense into the ceo of PM##? Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk

I would love to see what the developers could come up with by taking advantage of the P3D2 features and I would gladly pay for the additional functionality. REX AccuSeason Developer REX Simulations

Great , that would be the best option for me. Though I suppose that FTX Global will require separate installation anyway? Michael A2A Simulations

Removing the baked-in shadows is nice, but like you say it will take a while. Being able to at least use the old airports during this period of waiting would be much nicer than being without them for the next 6-12 months. -
