December 17, 200421 yr Hello everyone :)If Im doing something wrong flying the Project Fokker 70/100 then I cant figure out what it is thats causing this to happen: the *entire* tailplane tilts forward. When I load the plane the tailplane works normally with just the elevators moving up and down (as they should). As time passes the *entire* tailplane assembly flips down. Screenshots below...Any ideas! Thank you :)http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/100828.jpg
December 17, 200421 yr Could it be the result of trimming the plane?Simpitedit: Just checked - the trim will move the tail surfaces. Quite cool, actually!
December 17, 200421 yr I dont know, I shall try the trim though - thanks! But look at this screenshot, the tail looks broken! At this point flying is impossible and it just dives into the ground. I dont know what causes it!http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/100831.gif
December 17, 200421 yr Author Moderator That is the result of having the pitch FULLY UP... The aircraft.cfg shows the upper elevator_trim_limit=24.324 degrees, which seems rather excessive for any aircraft... :-hmmm I've changed all three aircraft.cfg files to elevator_trim_limit=15.00 and that seems much better to me... :) Fr. December 17, 200421 yr Do you have the autopilot on? It may be trimming to get you up to altitude... try turning it off. Bert
December 17, 200421 yr Thanks everyone for trying to help. Sometimes the plane works nicely but then suddenly the visual model shows like someones trying to wrench the tailplane off!If I understand correctly only the elevators (purple) should move right? In my case the entire stabilizer assembly (yellow)suddenly pivots:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/100834.jpg
December 17, 200421 yr The entire assembly pivots based on the trim setting from what I've seen. Sounds like the trim's going a bit to the extreme...-John
December 17, 200421 yr Author Moderator >If I understand correctly only the elevators (purple) should>move right? In my case the entire stabilizer assembly>(yellow)suddenly pivots:It has a "stabilator" rather than an elevator. Many a/c use a stabilator for trim control. That's the reason for the huge "bubble" at the top. It's the housing for the trim mechanism.Simply make the very minor correction to the elevator_trim_limit that I posted and the problem will go away... :) Fr. December 17, 200421 yr "Unless otherwise stated, all opinions and comments are mine - and mine alone! - and not as a "Spokesman" for Eaglesoft Development Group or any other firm, cult, or random assembly of individuals." :-) I guess I am going to have to come up with a disclaimer too... only mine would be in 0.01 font size and 22 pages long... :) We are getting way too serious around this place.
December 17, 200421 yr Have you seen the pilots in the plane? Nothing that happens with them there could be a surprise. I'm going to check mine out now.
December 17, 200421 yr Hithere I'm putting up 3 screenshots which show I think that it's normal behaviour for the tail-plane to do what it does<<>>

December 17, 200421 yr Tom, those jpegs showed as 78,80 and78 kbs. Please explain how they are too big. Thank you
December 18, 200421 yr HI Bill,Do you think perhaps by putting such disclaimer there you might actually be playing into the hands of those to whom the disclaimer is addressed?I say this of course with a disclaimer stating that I hope you won't feel my comments on your disclaimer are in any way rude but a light hearted jest, but just in case I shall disclaim them, such disclaimer being a protection in case my comment on your disclaimer may be interpreted as not a joke in which case I apologise for both this post and the disclaimer, if you see what I mean!Have a good rest and disclaimer free holiday!Warm Regards,Rob Young Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page
