How well does track IR 5 wroks in X plane?

Featured Replies

I had track IR 2 and finally gave up.

Never got it to work real well in the sim.

Is Track IR 5 an improvement?

Having never used TrackIR 2, I cannot address that part of the question.  I do use TrackIR 5 however, and it works great!

Hello, John.  Just started using XPX. TrackIR5 is working fine with the cockpit view (Shift+9), but does not work with any of the other outside views. Did you get it to work with the outside views? Thanks....

Outside views are disabled with TrackIR.  You can still go outside with those commands and use arrow keys to go around and someone has said that you can hold the right mouse key and look around (haven't tried that).  You can stick your head "out the window or over the top" and look around, but that's not very realistic.  I don't do much outside stuff because most flying I have done in real life was inside!

If you go into XPX without TrackIR activated, you can use the views - but I guess you knew that...

Works great with the pilotview plugin, it's what I use....

If you use the PilotView plugin with TrackIR you can create presets which position your head outside of the plane, and use that to simulate the various external views.

If you are used to TrackIR in FSX then you should lower your expectation for TrackIR in X-plane10

It will take quite a bit of fiddling to get it to work well. I never have. TrackIR is better in FSX but you will certainly need pilotview plugin. Don't even try to us it without that plugin.

I find it works exactly the same in X-plane 10 as it does in FSX, with the right piilotview settings.....

Only works in the cockpit, but I really like it

I use facetracknoir with Pointtracker 1.1 with my hand made 3 point clip and it works like a charm.
