January 30, 201412 yr Author Hello Jim Finally got round to pasting the file into the FSX folder but it's still crashing when using the menu! Is there anything else I can do? Thanks Alan
January 30, 201412 yr From what I've read, Prosim is not fully compatible with FSX - http://prosim-ar.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=758. What happens when you remove Prosim and fly the default 737? January 30, 201412 yr Author Hi Jim It seems to me that FSX causes more problems than it's worth-but surely not? I know people who don't have the issues I have and have FSX running quite well. In fact I am impressed with FSX apart from a few niggles but no more than FS9. There must be a solution to this. What exactly does the file I have placed in the FSX folder do? this is just so I have a better understanding of what is going on. Also Prosim has never given me any problems and. If there is an issue it's normally my fault!! So back to the original issue how do I stop FSX CTD when using the menus? As you know my PC is more than capable of running FSX smoothly with settings high and like many using Windows 7 without any problems. Is there anything else I can look at? Thank you for your time replying it is appreciated. Kind regards. Alan

Most likely your settings in FSX are too high. You should delete the Fsx.cfg, restart FSX and let FSX rebuild the fsx.cfg. Your PC is definitely not capable of running FSX with high settings. If you do not know how to delete the Fsx.cfg (it's located in a hidden Windows folder), then start up FSX, go to Settings, and then click on reset all settings to default. January 31, 201412 yr Commercial Member From what I've found, maximum stability comes when the UIAutomationCore.dll in your Syswow and Win32 is the same as the one in your FSX folder. Aamir Thacker
January 31, 201412 yr Author Hi Jim Thanks. I'm not saying my machine is capable of running FSX with everything set at high, I have FTX England installed and the settings are as recommended by and for FTX which are designed for medium end PC. I believe I have a high end machine. The sim otherwise is running well, my only real issue is this CTD when using the menu. I know others have experienced this problem and I was wondering what else I can do to resolve this apart from deleting the cfg file. The reason for my reluctance to do this is because I have already once uninstalled FSX yet this CTD is still happening. Thank you again-much appreciated. Kind regards Alan
January 31, 201412 yr From what I've found, maximum stability comes when the UIAutomationCore.dll in your Syswow and Win32 is the same as the one in your FSX folder. Yikes! Don't ever do that! Doing that is exactly the same thing as if you did not put a uiautomationcore.dll in your main FSX folder as eventually FSX will read the one in your Syswow and Win32 folder. As long as you did not put one of the older versions of the uiautomationcore.dll in the syswow or win32 directory, you should be okay as you really did not change anything. The uiautomationcore.dll is part of the Microsoft.net Framework Package. They are not, for the most part, backward compatible. Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! January 31, 201412 yr Alan, have you by any chance replaced system file, uiautomationcore.dll? becouse if you did, that will do more damage and cause instability. If you did that before Jim explained where to put uiautomationcore.dll, you need to repair system / Windows uiautomationcore.dll. - In that case, open Command Prompt and type: sfc /scannow, hit enter and wait for operation to finish. - Then put uiautomationcore.dll in FSX main folder only(in the same folder with fsx.exe) - check that you have UAC disabled - install latest FSUIPC http://forum.simflight.com/topic/66139-updated-modules/ - check Avsim guide for all important settings(update direct X and libraries, install right version of simconnect etc) - exclude FSX folders from antivirus scann. Next time install FSX on Disk/partition other then Windows partition. - in addition to that, try to do this manualy, it will increase FSX stability: Right click on fsx.exe, go to compatibility tab and click on "change settings for all users", and in "compatibility for all users" window - check only "disable visual themes" and "disable desktop composition". After that click on apply, ok, apply and ok untill you clear all windows Now go to the control Panel, "appearance and personalization" and select "Personalization". On the left hand side click on the "Change mouse pointers". In the "Pointers" tab, under "Scheme" select (None), under "customize" select "Normal Select" and press apply and ok. Zeljko Budovic
