February 1, 201412 yr I'm usually very careful about browsing the net but somehow I picked up some malware along the way. Thankfully I killed the initial crap by disabling it in MSCONFIG from starting up. Then thanks to Malwarebytes I killed the rest of it from wreaking havoc on my PC. So anyway be careful out there and Malwarebytes is a pretty nice freeware program that works. But careful if you use Reality XP - it deleted my .dll file on accident. (Technically I deleted it when I selected "yes" to delete). | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

February 1, 201412 yr Yep, I have malawarebytes on my PC too, and yes, it does regard Reality XP as a bad guy.
February 1, 201412 yr I put the RXP dll on MWB's ignore list, that's what resolved the issue for me. Now, what really frightens me, is that MWB has detected stuff on my PC that had gone undetected by Microsoft Essentials for weeks? Months? ??? What happened to AVSIM
February 1, 201412 yr Author I was just going to mention this. I didn't know anything about MWB. I used MSE in the past and it has done a good job (in the past). But MSE didn't find any of this malware.... I read about it from NickNs post at simforums. Looks like I'll be using it from now on. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
February 2, 201412 yr I use MSE as well. It works fine, but no one program is going to catch everything. I used to use MWB but now I recommend using Spybot Search and Destroy. It's free, well supported and It picks up stuff that even MWB misses. I also recommend making routine backups of your registry. If you do manage to get infected with something nasty, it's a pretty simple way of removing it completely. I've been set up like this for a while now and I've not experienced any bad stuff happening in my system since Cheers, Jeff "For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return." -Leonardo da Vinci (some experts question the attribution, but I'll go with it for now.)
February 2, 201412 yr MWB may be detecting false positives don't forget. Like it does for the RXP stuff. I use MSE and MWB. There's no conflict from using both. So far, MWB isn't detecting anything MSE didn't for me.
February 2, 201412 yr (...) but now I recommend using Spybot Search and Destroy. It's free, well supported and It picks up stuff that even MWB misses. (...) Thanks for that one, Jeff. Just got rid of a few more of these little digital ######s. B) EDIT: Ooops, I just got censored for calling malware names. Edited February 2, 201412 yr by olli4740 What happened to AVSIM
February 6, 201412 yr I also use Winpatrol,it saved my bacon when i picked up malware ,Winpatrol asked me if I wanted to allow the to program run!,as i did not know what the program did I checked it out and It was malware,Winpatrol had it stopped it from starting,I was then able to perform a System restore, winpatrol program is free
February 6, 201412 yr Like Jeff, I use and recommend SpyBot Search and Destroy, ESET NOD32 for AV and I also make a routine of backing up everything I can. I do not rely on System Restore to fix anything. EDIT: Ooops, I just got censored for calling malware names. That's okay Oliver, you are just writing what most of us are thinking and being very polite about it I might add. :Big Grin: Regards, Mel
