Reading above, it's been going on since at least 2014, making me wonder if they ever looked into correcting the issue. Just pains me. August 3, 20169 yr Yes the FSS servers, happens every time with a major release of REX or ORBX, demand goes up during a release for a few days and tapers off again. FSS won't be handling ORBX in the long term so no point in them investing too much in servers at this point Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
August 3, 20169 yr Yup I've had it happen and its majorly frustrating, especially when you haven't updated in a long time, and have multiple large downloads that its impossible to queue. Bleah. Bleeah. Bleah!!! You don't have to look much further than these types of situations to ascertain why I am all for DTG transferring the flightsim ecosystem to Steam. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically. August 4, 20169 yr when i downloaded the new openLC on sunday it was pretty fast, did all 14Gb in an hour or so. wonder why they are slow again?? i heard they were very slow on sunday morning after the release but i didn't really have any troubles at all. maybe double check your internet connection is all running correct with a speed test or something. cheers! -andy crosby
August 4, 20169 yr Commercial Member You probably mean "FSS" servers... Not unless FSS handles updates to Global via FTX Central. Pretty sure that's via the ORBX server. August 4, 20169 yr Not unless FSS handles updates to Global via FTX Central. Pretty sure that's via the ORBX server. oh,aha yeah that is probably a different setup, i misunderstood and thought you were referring to the product downloads (it was the title of this thread after all haha) good luck with the update cheers -andy crosby
August 4, 20169 yr Yes from what I understand the FTX Central 2 is handled by ORBX servers for updates, and will be expanded for purchasing products directly from ORBX at some point. Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
August 4, 20169 yr The release of Open Landclass NA has resulted in thousands of purchases and there is only so much bandwidth available, hence the slowdown. It's a 9.41G download that comes in 4 files I use Internet Download Manager. A great program that is well worth the price. Set up the download Queue and go do something else until it's finished. Usually, it's the ISP and not the server that is at fault. Either way, it is just something that we all have with. Try doing the download on a slow DSL (<300 kbps) line and you will learn what frustration really is like. My average download speed is 1G per hour unless there is a lot of traffic which can result in Dial-Up speeds.
August 7, 20169 yr I use Internet Download Manager I second that. Best 29 USD I have spent. August 11, 20169 yr Not unless FSS handles updates to Global via FTX Central. Pretty sure that's via the ORBX server. Uh no.. The products themselves are not on orbx servers. Pretty sure you need to read better, or re-read what people say (starting with the thread title...)
August 11, 20169 yr Commercial Member Uh no.. The products themselves are not on orbx servers. Pretty sure you need to read better, or re-read what people say (starting with the thread title...) Yeah, your correct about my post and the thread title. However, if you read what I wrote, you'll also see that the problem was on the ORBX server itself - otherwise my post would have been in the correct forum. Guess we both could have read better. That's the thing with living to point out the errors of others... August 11, 20169 yr If I just download via the browser, FSS downloads are super-slow. I use Free Download Manager with 30 simultaneous connections, which speeds it up considerably. I have the same problem with FTX Central - trying to download new libraries from there takes forever. Downloading from Google Drive takes a minute or two. -

That's the thing with living to point out the errors of others... Well, not really, see yours is the only post mentioning the orbx servers i. This thread, and implying it's still going on as part of this thread, where nobody has complained at all, that's why I pointed out if you meant the FSS servers, since otherwise your post makes no sense.. So thanks, but my reading is fine... If I just download via the browser, FSS downloads are super-slow. I use Free Download Manager with 30 simultaneous connections, which speeds it up considerably. I have the same problem with FTX Central - trying to download new libraries from there takes forever. Downloading from Google Drive takes a minute or two. I prefer to dl the files directly, just to also have themin case of re-install etc. All servers work great that way (and with a DL manager for large files).
August 11, 20169 yr Commercial Member Brother, you're not getting it. Look, I've been at this for 30 years, I'm a beta tester for many of the leading FS developers and a consultant to many more. I initially made a mistake by posting in this thread... but that aside, what i wrote is correct. I wish you the best.
