Slow Climb

Hello Everyone!

Today I am flying from YSSY-YBBN. For a while now I've just notice that the aircraft takes a while to climb. I passed 20 000FT and the fpm rate drops to 900. I had loaded 6200KG of fuel, payload of 78.2% and CI of 45. I am using Rex2 for my weather. is there anyway to solve this issue? Or am I making a mistake? Thanks

Gents..

I am having exactly the same issue. My 737/800 climbs to about 20000ft -no problems- then, despite engines being at FMC climb thrust, it climbs at only about 300fpm..I have jacked up the v/s to 1500fpm and it resumes that rate of climb..Is the dreaded FSInn the root cause again here ?

Also, I am not sure which weather button you refer to..is  it the main VATSIM button ao the WX button on the right hand side ?

Rgds

Sounds like a definite OAT problem. I have seen this in the past.

It is most likely inaccurately simulated weather by your weather app, which sometimes happens when there is no data available for that area.

Did you check you TAT on the ND? It probably would indicate a temp of over 10C. (at 20000)

What was your OPT ALT?

Indeed - that might be interesting to recheck again!

Another possibility:

Did You manually enter/set Your T/C OAT at the PERF INIT page?

Beacuse sometimes it is forgotten or overseen to add "-" (minus/negative) when manually entering the T/C OAT, such as 56 instead of the required -56°C for instance into the scratchpad.

I have jacked up the v/s to 1500fpm and it resumes that rate of climb

Did You check out the speed as well?

Because in "V/S mode" You also have to take good care that Your speed is sufficient for Your rate of climb!

Please feel free to take a look at this thread here for instance:

http://forum.avsim.net/topic/431488-pmdg-737-ngx-vertical-speed-hold-problem/

... because when climbing LVL CH or VNAV should be used instead of V/S.

Gents,

Thank you for the helpful responses.

With a few other flights, I realise it is entirely my fault (DOH!!)..I forgot to leave the aircraft to do its own thing in the climb, but started messing with the speed too soon

I see from tutorials that you set V2 speed on MCP and leave it alone until after SID limitations etc, then altitude shud be increased by "intervene"

Thank you for your comments..wish I was a little less dumb now

Could You post some screenshots ... because maybe it can halp to gain a better picture.

Not sure, but maybe.

So if You run into this situation again, please consider to take a snapshot from Your overhead panel, Your FMC/CDU, center forward panel and main control panel for instance and then show the screenshots here.

Not sure, but again saying - maybe - it can help to clarify things a bit by having more information about various settings here then.

Ok Thanks for the reply. Cant send screenshots until Friday afternoon because I have school and I'm not allowed to play on weekdays. Ill send as many screenshots as i can. Thanks

Ah... school ... i remember ... there once was something like that in my life too  ... ages ago by now it seems !

Seriously though:

Real Life always comes first!

Take Your time - and when ready post Your screenies here and maybe things will get sorted then!

All the best!
