February 10, 201412 yr I did a search but apparently no one has got my small issue. Sometimes, even if I disconnect GPU, ASU, ACU within the CDU, I have the GPU which stays attached to the aircraft, visually speaking. What was my surprise, after takeoff, switching to external view and see this little cart floating in the air near the aircraft !!!! I will try to take a picture next time. Is it a known issue ? Will it be corrected in the coming SP1 ? (Forgive me if it has already been answered but I couldn't find any topic on that subject) Stephane Stephane LI-THIAO-TE Envoyé de mon iPad à l'aide de Tapatalk Location : FMEE
February 10, 201412 yr Select the PMDG, select another aircraft, then reselect the PMDG, and then Fly. No idea if this will be addressed in SP1. Your message was posted 10 times? Did you have a problem posting?
February 10, 201412 yr Author Yes, I just saw that it is posted 10 times. I think there is a problem when posting with Tapatalk Pro. When I tap send, it keeps saying there is an error for posting my message, so I tried again and again, and I didn't know that it worked even with the error message. I will report the issue to the Tapatalk debs. I am very sorry for posting 10 times. And I can't delete the previous posts now. Please, is there a modo who can delete my previous posts ? (A reminder for myself : don't ever use Tapatalk to open a new topic or to answer to a topic  ) Stephane Location : FMEE

Did you have a problem posting? Not a good idea to do this as talked about in the intro manual. Reloading the aircraft over itself can cause issues, even if switching to another aircraft type, some stuff remains in memory. Better to shut down and restart fsx and the flight. As to the error, I have not seen this one myself yet. Wes Meyer

It is due to what Wes is talking about. I forgot that I had "reloaded" the plane on top of itself and by the time I pushed back for taxi and looked at the external model, I then remembered. You will probably also notice the engine fan blades missing too - among other things. Anyway, this is a known "issue" and is talked about in the Introduction pdf for the 777. I'm not sure if "issue" is right because I can't remember if it is just something to do with FSX or if PMDG actually can fix it. February 10, 201412 yr Commercial Member It's something to do with FSX and there's not much anyone can do about it. Yes, I'm sure that a decent amount of outside the box thinking and writing some code could "solve" the issue, but at the cost of simply remembering to not load the aircraft on top of itself, it's not really worth all the extra effort and brainwork. The intro manual offers suggestions and best practices. Kyle Rodgers
February 10, 201412 yr Reloading the aircraft over itself can cause issues, even if switching to another aircraft type, some stuff remains in memory. If you do this BEFORE you hit the fly button ... this worked well for me and prevented VAS creep. But, if one is already inside (3D) then exit, to the 2D screen and select a different aircraft (not a PMDG but one of the default FSX aircraft), then re-select the PMDG and Fly again. I did read the issue was an FSX problem, but so far, the PMDG 777 was the ONLY aircraft that exhibited the problem for me. But here is the excerpt from the PMDG manual (page 29): A few notes to keep you from running into trouble: There is a common misconception that when loading a complex simulation like the PMDG 777-200LR/F that you should first load the default Cessna into the simulator, then load the PMDG 777-200LR/F. This is not a factual conception and in fact we do not recommend the practice at all. What is required however is for a default Microsoft aircraft to be your default startup flight in FSX. The reason for this is that this flight actually loads in the background invisible to the user – if it’s set to a complex addon it can result in the setting of certain internal variables that the 777 relies on that cannot be reset until the simulator is restarted. We identified this issue as far back as 2006 and asked Microsoft to fix it, but it unfortunately never happened. One shortcoming of all PMDG products for FSX is that our products do not like to be “re-loaded” on top of themselves. This means that if you have one livery or variant of the airplane selected and running within the simulation world (say, a 777F) and you wish to change liveries to a different 777F, you will need to shut down the simulator and then select the new variant or livery you wish to switch to from scratch. If you load a 777 livery or variant on top of itself you will see strange issues in the cockpit, FSX may CTD or otherwise crash etc. Cheers, Rob.

I just experienced this problem for the first time. I just recently started doing very long flights (up to 16 hours) with the 777. The sim started to OOM, so I saved the flight - ended the flight - then loaded the saved flight. I didn't exit the simulator so my ACARS and EFB wouldn't disconnect. Everything loaded fine and the VAS was reset, but now I'm cruising at FL350 with the GPU attached. Is that considered loading the plane on top of itself? I thought it meant selecting the aircraft from the aircraft menu, then selecting it a 2nd time after switching planes. April 12, 201412 yr If I want to switch liveries or load a T7 flight on top of another T7 flight, I first load the default Ultralite/Friday Harbor flight and then load the T7 flight I want. This seems to work well if I don't do it too many times. Loading a default trike or Cessna also seems to work OK, but I've found loading the default Ultralite flight to be more reliable. Ian, yes, what you did is one form of loading the T7 on top of itself. Mike
