My frame rate fell about 20% when in the VC. Virtually no change in the 2D. I am using SLI

Jim,

This is why it's so hard to compare performance from one system to another. We all have different tastes and it just depends on what compromises you're willing to make. I've actually got pretty conservative settings in P3D. I do have shadows on as that is one of the most appealing things for me. The iFly 737 out of SFO with 20% AI and real weather with scattered clouds gets about 17-20 FPS on the ground. While I understand that FPS isn't everything, once you start to move into the mid-teens, the fluidity of the sim begins to suffer. The exact same scenario with the Aerosoft Airbus gets into the upper 20's. I'm still experimenting with settings in P3D so I'm sure I'll be able to find the sweet spot eventually. It seems like the better the performance we get from new hardware, we undo by adding new features that tax that hardware. Sometimes it seems like we're treading water.

OK so the fps might be lower than the fluid Aerosoft Airbus, but my question is:

Does everything in iFly 737 work as its supposed to in P3DV22 ?

Can't say as I haven't flown a complete flight with it yet.

As recommended in the AVSIM FSX/P3D Configuration Guide (we are still working on P3D.cfg settings for a future update) and the AVSIM CTD Guide, we recommend you load only the sceneries you will be using during a flight session using the Scenery_Config_Editor.

Hi Jim,

Could you explain what this Scenery_Config_Editor is?  I am very willing to try this if I knew how to do it.  Thanks so much.

I don't know yet but I can tell you this, it is the first time I have been able to get an FMC/CDU to work the way it is supposed to on the tutorial flight, at my first attempt.

But I am far from being and expert, just a drip under pressure.

More information about the Scenery Config Editor can be found on page 6 of the AVSIM CTD Guide.  You can also find info about it on about page 21 of the Introduction manual for the PMDG 777.

Sometimes it seems like we're treading water.

I agree.  Unfortunately it is all a matter of tweaking and tweaking a bit more.  Everyone has different computer system configurations that affect the operation of P3D and other apps.  Simply running another app like Internet Explorer in the background while running P3D can reduce performance dramatically too.  Right now I'm a little upset with the performance of P3DV2.2 as I had to do a new install (as I stated above) and I cannot get the performance/graphics I had before.  I'm getting 40-50 fps mostly and sometimes 70 or 80 fps in wing view with the iFly 737NG but my MSEV2 photoscenery is not rendering. I put the sim in pause and it takes 10-15 minutes for the photoscenery textures to render and I only have one State enabled.  I installed the latest BETA version of the Nvidia display drivers and I think that's the problem.  So, like I said above, you can have 70 or 100 fps and still get the blurries.  In my case it has gotten really ugly.  This happens in any aircraft and not just the 737NG.

Best regards,

It's great when you know how to use the FMC and get it to work properly!

I know this is off topic but just wanted to pass on a friendly reminder that we have changed our signature policy again and we are kindly asking everyone to please put their system specs and flight sim information in their respective "My Profile". More details can be found at the following link - http://forum.avsim.net/topic/436632-new-signature-rules/ or under the Forums tab above. I see you have already set up your My PC profile so it is just a matter of removing the specs from your signature.  Thanks for your cooperation.

This is the same one?

Yes, this is the one.  Quite expensive.

I might have fixed my problem with the blurries.  I changed my fps from unlimited to 20.  I might have screwed up by going directly into the config and changing the fps to 100 (which in fsx is unlimited).  In the P3d settings page, the max is 60.  So I'm back to normal again.  May try a 30 or 40 fps limit sometime.  In any case, most of the blurries are gone.

Anybody have any data on fps of iFly737 compared to Aerosoft's Airbus EX which gives me a constant 26 in VC in P3DV22 under most situations ?

at 80 US I wanna be sure its the good decision

considering I just bought an R290 for 500

peppy,

On my machine The Aerosoft Airbus is about 6-7 FPS better than the iFly 737. It was an unscientific test using Flightbeam's KSFO. Runway 28R, 20% AI. No weather. I just bought the iFly plane on Friday night and actually put in a ticket for a refund Saturday morning. I think I'm going to wait for the refund though and try and adjust settings to get it to where it's manageable. I have 30 days to get a refund.

NAX669.png

The Aerosoft is fine with me except that the two navigation displays are not independent

nor are the two EFIS sets of knobs

,,,,,,,

6 fps decrease form a 26 fps performance is not all bad

some other imported fsx-ish a/c are half that

An immediate thought of refund is not good

What are the multitude of imperfections that led you there?

Peppy,

It was more of a knee jerk reaction than anything. I haven't flown a complete flight with it so I'm not familiar with how well everything works. I'm going to try to get a flight in later today.
