Featured Replies

As per usual, looks amazing :)  Will download tonight and donate.  Thanks for your hard work!

Does it integrate well with SimHeaven's Europe OSM + Autogen and / or photosceneries?

Hey I'm an FSX guy, but thanks for your scenery!  It does justice to the farmland areas I grew up in.

Andras, excellent work as always, I'm downloading now and trying out. I really like how you get it to fit with the textures, something I'm not sure how to do (and I might harass you by email ;-))

The new scenery v2 usd by FG3 is also OSM ( and other sources) - based.

Jcomm, I wish I could share your enthusiasm (I think this is the right word) for FG3, but I think it has long way to go before it compares to XP or even older versions of MSFS. I'm all for opensource software, and really want to see it succeed, but it still has some way to go before it can entice developers unfortunately. That being said, I have several issues I'm having with X-Plane, e.g. facades, which I wish I had a developer on hand to answer.

You're not alone Tony... But somehow FG3 is having such a positive effect on my flight simulation activity, and giving me such a good time, that I think the closest I felt so happy with a new simulator was when I restarted using flight simulators with MS FLIGHT.

Each flight, scenery area, add-on... the weather effects, the accuracy of some flight models, the complexity of an add-on like the Tu-154, made me spent all of my simming time with it lately ....

But I agree, that in terms of graphics, it can't compare... yet....

Technically, you should have absolutely no problems ... aesthetically, well you have to try it yourself and decide (I haven't but neither did I hear complaints about this combination ... so it should be ok too).

Well, honestly, there is no magic and when ever the "fitting" works its - well - pure coincidence. At least there is no technique (nor do I know about one in the current state of the scenery) which would allow me to get some good matching ...

... its another question, that - especially with agriculture fields - there are some ideas inside Laminar to vastly improve the matching of road networks and fields (a little bit like city zoning)  ... and then - of course - tree lines might 8autmatically) fit much better. But those are only "ideas" until now ...

Firstly sorry for hijacking your thread :). When using my OSM scenery without ortophotos, the results can vary somewhat. It looks quite good in some areas, but very poor in others, e.g. You may have entire cities which seem to sit on grass. I'm sure there is a way (maybe using draped polygons) that I can put a city textures (Such as JohnMaxx's textures) underneath, but that's something to look at later.

I had a try of the treelines in combination with OSM, and I really like the way you've intelligently excluded the trees from running into water or across road junctions. It fits very well with the HD Mesh, and I can also confirm that it sits on-top of OSM generated scenery really nicely and fills out unpopulated areas nicely :-)

Much appreciated Andras, subtle but nice addition to the immersion factor.

JComm could I make a polite request that you keep evangelizing of other flight sims for general forums? I understand you're very excited about Flight Gear and it's great to keep everyone aware of potential in other sims but this is the XP forum and you're bringing up FG quite regularly here these days

Jcomm, Andras may one day get to FlightGear, but only after doing the same marvelous job he has done for Europe and US, but now on the South America Region! It would make some X-Plane users so happy B) :P
