ErrorContentLog after Hot fix

Featured Replies

Previous to hot fix I had a few errors in the ErrorContentLog.

I believe they said they expanded it. Scary isnt it!

"We are going to be making the ContentErrorLogging much more easily available in future versions, and continue to add to it.

Errors that it reports, while some might think are trivial, can have a compounding effect on memory usage and performance. Our goal here is to make it as easy and efficient as possible for developers to optimize and build the best content they can for Prepar3D v2. We'll keep working on it too."

I just got a ticket response from Carenado (B1900D) saying the Hot fix fixed their errors ..

I wrote back saying it (the hot fix) did not correct anything.

So, the developers need to run the logging (which in this case they are not) on their own products ... we should not have to do this (run the log and report the errors to them).

Anyway ... it is all a bit of a mess at the moment.

Good for you Vaughan. I did the same. Probably going to Pee them off. :) The GPS's are rediculous. Their not the only ones. Over a 1000 errors in a very popular Airbus. Ive also found some that are very good also and they have great performance coincidentally.

Okay, just to put some much needed perspective on this...

...if you look very closely, you'll find that the "errors reported" are being repeated, many, many, M A N Y times!

As a practical example, after I excised the duplicates in a 573 item error report, I wound up with a mere 15 unique errors!  :good:

So, don't despair!  :drinks:

EDIT: I should have added that some types of errors will be reported endlessly as long as the aircraft is loaded!!!  Now think about how that is going to affect your VAS...  :Nail Biting:

Thanks for that info Fr.

I think there are people out there which should better NOT look into the ContentErrorLog! They may get scared and confused.

Ya think? :) Scare the crap out of ya.

Looks like a good tool for developers to use.

I wonder if FSX had some of these errors ... but not seen by pilots? Could it (the errors) cause OOM in FSX also?

In theory yes, but in practice probably not as FSX isn't nearly as hard on VAS as P3Dv2 is... B)

What the LM developers said is that the error logging is more detailed with the hot fix, but the XML interpreter is back to being more forgiving, and will stay that way until 3rd party developers fix their products. Basically, a number of add-ons did not faithfully follow XML coding conventions and for some reason FSX and previous versions of P3d just ignored that.  LM is trying to clean up the P3d code as much as possible and therefor the issue popped up with some add-on aircraft and gauges.

.......Basically, a number of add-ons did not faithfully follow XML coding conventions and for some reason FSX and previous versions of P3d just ignored that. .....

The most errors I can see are very simple faults like missing '&' or such things - let's say typos or syntax errors. This has nothing to do with XML conventions in special. Anyway it's very good that LM is parsing the code strict because any code should be as much faultless as possible.

So this new tool will identify the developers that are sticklers for detail in the correctness of their coding and those that shall we say are less so? This is going to make for some interesting, if not volatile threads. =@  :Big Grin:

...when on the surface everything looks so nice, never being truly aware of the horrors lurking beneath.....until big OOM strikes!  Then you find yourself evicted from your experience to the truth of your mediocre desktop!

Bad coding sux!!

But thanks to LM there is a tool that can help stop it...use it before it stops you!

lol

Sorry...
