01APR14 - PMDG 777-200LR/F Feature Preview - WX RADAR

Recommended Posts

The joy of having a working weather radar is so big that I think it should not be an issue for anyone to invest on ASN. Besides making the dream of the wxr come true, it provides a wonderful weather engine, correct cloud visualization and many other things...

A quick question to you beta folks (and PMDG, of course).

I know it's still a beta, so there's bound to be some debugging processes running in the background. However, how is the 777 with SP1 behaving, performance-wise, in relation to the 777 without? Is there any difference? Is it easier on the hardware, or heavier?

Outstanding news! I must complement Robert for his masterful April Fools joke within an April Fools joke.

First comes the announcement of a working weather radar, and data uplink capability, producing initial great excitement. But, on second look... Uh, oh... It IS April 1st, and there are obvious references to the date in the screen shot... like the false "APFL" alternate, and the 4.1 remaining fuel figure, and what appeared to be obvious photoshop manipulation of part of the graphic. And Robert IS well-known for having a wry sense of humor.

Arghh! He's obviously having us on... Great wailing and gnashing of teeth among the milling crowd. Some talk of tar and feathers...

Then the masterful part! Despite part of the graphic being an April 1st joke - as for the weather radar ---- It's real!!

For some reason I keep hearing Madeline Kahn's "Lily" character in the movie "Blazing Saddles" exclaiming "It's TWUE! It's TWUE!"

You're an evil, evil man Mr. Randazzo! (And I mean that as a compliment!) [emoji48]

This aircraft just keeps getting better and better! Looking forward to the SP!

It's not the clouds that matter, it's their contents :P

It's impossible to regret that step. Once you've tried ASN, there's no turning back.

I should apply for their sales dep :P

haha - pretty sure that one's a little too obscure to be worth modeling.

I'm a bit of a perfectionist. Please tell me it's removable. :)

I kinda already did...

(No - though that's not to say they wouldn't consider it if you ask them.  I highly doubt it, though.)

Maybe they'll remodel it in the -300ER. Because that overhead panel is a bit different than in the -200/LR/F series. For example the Taxi-Camera-System Light.

So if they have to model something new on the -300ER overhead they probably can change the lid too. (Just my opinion. But that would be another closer step to "as real as it gets".

Planning on it when I get home.  Made a presentation to describe how it works (and fend off some of the "it's not doing what it's supposed to be doing" posts), and I'll add a second one in the sim, too, as I did with my SID/STARs videos.
