April 25, 201412 yr It depends: What do you use for scenery now (if anything)? What do you fly? Where do you fly? The short answer for those that would rather not use photo-real is 'probably', but it does depend on the above to an extent. Mike Dryden
April 25, 201412 yr Well, it's all a matter of personal preference, but for me it has completely changed the look and feel of FSX. So yes, I would say it is worth the $100. However, there is something to remember, FTX Global only replaces the FSX default autogen and textures, nothing else. If you want to enhance things even further, then you can purchase the full blown regions, or install the recently released global Vector product, terrain mesh and the newly to be released landclass for Europe. Either way, I suggest, if you haven't already done so to read up on the different options on the Orbx website. If you'd like any further detailed info regarding their products then just shout. April 25, 201412 yr You can fly over (large areas of) photoscenery a lot, or rather explore the FTX regions but, chances are, you can't avoid default scenery to some greater extent. Judging by my limited experience with replacement ground textures (I don't use Global, but started using a different product a short time ago, a title that actually can't be recommended easily) - yes, some upgrade of the default scenery does make sense, no matter whether you also invest in either PS or ORBX regions. April 27, 201412 yr Author It depends: What do you use for scenery now (if anything)? What do you fly? Where do you fly? The short answer for those that would rather not use photo-real is 'probably', but it does depend on the above to an extent. Well I just the default scenery I fly the PMDG 777, CS 767, and QW757 And I mostly fly to random United Airline's route. Like KEWR-EGLL, or KSFO-YSSY, or KJFK-KLAX. So you can say I'm all over the place Another question guys, in terms of FPS, does it slow the computer slow by having FTX Global?? I have heard there been cases of increase performance Regards, JJ
April 27, 201412 yr Given that you spend your time in the flight levels all over the world then yes, I'd say it is worth it. It's an improvement over default textures, and you don't really need the added detail of their specific regions that would be of benefit if cruising around in a Cub was your thing. I've not noticed a performance drop, and wouldn't expect one since you're simply changing the picture, not adding to it. The global scenery lights are supposed to perform better than default, but I spend so little time flying at night that I haven't noticed. They've also recently released a tool for configuring their lights to what you want. I've not played with that yet. Bear in mind that it is only new textures. There are other underlying things that are not changed such as the landclass and vector things (rivers, roads...). There are other products for those though. However... one step at a time. So I bought it....FTX should send you some of that 100 bucks because you sold me on it. Now I'm going to look into FTX vectors. It has definitely improve my gameplay. And it looks amazing at night. And no drop on FPS either. Thanks for the help Regards, JJ
May 1, 201412 yr And Fs Global 2010 worldwide terrain mesh which is another $100. I recently put all of these products together and I am impressed. Yes lots of mula but now many parts of the world which used to be so plain and featureless are now enjoyable. Especially if you fly globally with a bird like the 777. I dont even mind flying into stock FSX airports in parts of the world that are lacking addon airports since the added beauty of FX Global and the terrain mesh of FS Global 2010 make for great scenery getting to those destinations. I uninstalled UTX when I purchased Vector just to consolidate everything. Cant wait for the landclass by ORBX. Lost some LC features in some areas but not enough to make me keep UTX. Wiating for an all ORBX/Pilots world. Timothy Murphy
May 2, 201412 yr Really, I still prefer the UTX areas over the Vector areas... Besides UTX containing LC data... Roads look much better you get accurate secondary roads and tons of options to change UTX to your specific desires... Not enough in Vector alone (is no secondary roads) to get me to dump UTX currently. Although that may change with Orbx LC data... Chris Camp
May 2, 201412 yr Why don't you post a screenshot of an area that you want to fly and we can post a pic of what it would look like with Global. Probably the best way to answer the question.
