Hello guys,

about a week ago I asked for help about a new system, now I have (well I think) found a good new setup. Let present it to you

First things first I probably will overclock it a bit..

i7-4770k @ 3,5gHz oc after

Nvidia GTX 770 2048 mb                                 [Asus or Gigabyte?]

AsRock z87 Extreme 4 ; Intel z87 So. 1150

8Gb Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600 DIMM     [is this necessary? or can i go with for example ballistix sport]

1000Gb Seagate Desktop (7200rpm) HDD

250Gb Samsung 840 Evo series SSD

Corsair Hydro Series H80i

750W Corsair CX Series modular cables

and some dvd/cd rom drive

What do you think about it?

Also if you have some suggestions for a suitable case, below ~100€, that would be amazing, nothing fancy.

Thanks for your help

Moritz

What sim are you trying to build this for?  It's perfect for every sim option out there except one meaning just install the software and go.  FSX will always need a tweak here or there no matter what your throw at it.

Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram

Well at the moment it will be FSX but as more products are getting compatible with PREPAR3D it is a matter of time when I will switch over / running both...

This looks to me, like a suitable rig for both FSX and PREPAR3D. You should have no problem running multiple high quality add ons consecutively at good frames.

As far as cases go, there are many cheap options. I believe I got mine for around $70. It's nothing fancy but suits my needs. One thing to keep in mind is size. Make sure there is plenty of space within the case for expansion, especially if you plan to over clock, some kind of additional CPU cooler will be necessary.

Very nice setup with watercooler, try to get Geforce with 4gb mem.

Very nice setup!

It's basically what I would recommend ATM.

Only thing, if you want to be ready for p3d, get a 4gb version of the gtx770, which ever brand you like.

P3d uses way more of the gpu and it's memory, so it would be worth the extra 60 or so bux.

If you can wait a couple of months I would personally so that.

There should be a haswell refresh very soon, and the newer chips will be the same price and socket, but they fixed the heat problems, so you will be able to overclock much more.

Other than that, it will run very very nice!

Ps, you will read some comments on these forums of people that bash the corsair h series. Don't believe them. It seems there is some kind of online fashion where it is cool to not like corsair or something.

I have had noctua, cooler master and corsair coolers my self, and installed many other brands as well, and in my personal experience the h80i gives about 10c lower temps than the best air coolers.

and in my personal experience the h80i gives about 10c lower temps than the best air coolers.

Sorry but that's nonsense.

Look at the reviews, the comparisons.

The NH-D14, and the Thermalright Archon, and a number of other high end air coolers beat the H80i very comfortably.

To beat the above air coolers you are looking at the H110 or equivalent with better surface area. Only the best AIO water coolers beat the best air coolers.

I've just 'junked' the H80 and replaced it with the best air cooler I've EVER had; the Noctua NH-D14. What a stunning piece of kit. How the hell did I ever miss this? And whats more, even at reduced RPM it gives far, far better cooling than the H80 ever did!!!

H100i 76 degrees [Which is better than the H80i]

Kraken X60 70 degrees [Noisy higher RPM fans]

Corsair H110 72 degrees [Very quiet]

NH-D14 72 degrees [Very quiet]

Noise levels here...

I'd up the ram speed.... DDR3 1600 is slower for haswell....  go with 2400mhz if you can with the lowest timings.
