MJC Q400 patch 1.009 is out but no P3DV2.x :(

I guess this has been out a couple of days now, but Just an FYI.  Nothing in the patch to help it out with P3DV2.x sadly.

I guess making the Q400 officially P3DV2.2 compatible is turning out to be a difficult challenge.  Wonderful aircraft, but will just have to keep waiting and hope it'll arrive sometime this year.  It's good to see Majestic do keep updating the FSX product.

Cheers, Rob.

Majestic are not going to touch P3dv2, until after the pro and training versions are near/completely finished. That is where their priorities lie, rightfully so, IMO.

Whats your Problem? Q400 runs fine on v2.2 here.

I get terribly strange pausing/stuttering/slewing with P3DV2.2. Works great in FSX. I'll wait for Majestic to make it compatible as they have stated there are a few issues that need to be resolved to be truly compatible. One of which is a "final" stable P3D version.

Control panel is fine, no issues.  Aircraft will fly in P3DV2.2 as I've demonstrated in a video I made here:

The problem with the MJC Q400 seems to be with synchronizing on the P3DV2.2 main render thread.  The net result is the aircraft will jump forward AND backwards in flight ... these are NOT stutters, they are synchronization problems (and I'm not talking about Vsync).  This issues was introduced with V2.1 of P3D as prior version V2.0 did NOT exhibit the issue.

Here is another example of what I'm talking about in terms of synchronization (these are not the same as stutters):

Removed FSX, re-installed Q400 from scratch using 1.008.  I've gone thru the process of adjusting CPU cores (making sure those cores are free and available for the Q400) in the Q400.ini and various synchronization settings including locking frames, installing FSX SDK SimConnect (latest) even though P3DV2.2 has it's own managed SimConnect, etc. etc.

Majestic doesn't support P3DV2.x officially, so I'm not complaining ... this is an FSX product designed for FSX.

But I'm guess the very reason an official released P3DV2.x version is not available yet (6 months after we were told there would be a P3DV2.x version) could be because of this exact issue ... perhaps it requires some coordination with LM for a resolution?

But I'm open to more suggestions, I've tried everything I was able to find about including:

1.  setting affinity for Q400 in it's .ini

2.  setting synch options via Q400 Control Panel

3.  locking frame rates

4.  turning graphics setting down so I can sustain 60 fps

5.  Uninstall FSX and only have P3D

6.  Re-installed fresh (several times)

7.  Vsync on/off, triple buffers

8.  Install FSX SDK SimConnect (latest)

9.  Wipe my P3D configuration

10. Ensure no CPU core overlap with Q400 and P3D

11. Even removed my GoFlight EXE reference and tried flying without my GoFlight modules

12.  Removed all entries in DLL.XML and EXE.XML and even SimConnect.XML

13. Deleted shaders folder

14. Flew in generic locations including open sea with nothing around for 100's of miles.

15.  Clear weather

16.  Down clocked CPU (just in case that was issue)

17.  Tried with and without nVidia Inspector profiles

18.  Tried different AA and AF settings

19.  MipMaps off

If I missed something please let me know, but I've tried hard (because it is such a nice aircraft) to make the Q400 not jitter along in P3DV2.2.  So far the only solution to getting the Q400 working in P3D is to go back to V2.0 ... for whatever reason it works great in P3Dv2.0.

My hunch is some type of threading issue related to SimConnect (be in FSX SDK stand alone install or P3DV2.2's built in managed SimConnect) ... as I understand it the Q400 uses SimConnect to "fly" thru the simulated world.  Unless there are some special SimConnect.xml settings I need?

What I do find odd in the recommendations to install the FSX SDK SimConnect ... how is P3D v2.2 working with essentially two active versions of SimConnect -- the programmer in me suggests that should cause contention?  My theory is that it's not FSX SDK SimConnect fixes the problem, it's the installation of it that might be setting specific values either in the registry or in SimConnect.xml or perhaps some place else?

Cheers, Rob.

You lost me there, do you mean finish specifically for FSX?  If so, not sure I understand why that would be a good priority?

It would seem to me a "professional/training" product provided by Majestic would be more suited to a professional/training grade platform that has continuing development rather than for an entertainment platform who's development stopped 7 years ago.

If you are suggesting priority based on market share, if so, then I can confirm that market share swing is changing day by day and release by release for those doing single platforms.

Don't get me wrong, FSX will be around for a while (years, just as FS9) for many reasons but I can't imagine any major new 3rd party content ignoring P3DV2.x.

Hi Rob,

I'm not a specialist but  i think the problem is something linked to another application who try to communicate with Q400 (ex.autosave feature of the FSUIPC or other ACARS from VA). I have the same problem a week ago (for me was a problem linked to ACARS)  but now i  fly every day with DashQ400 and i don t have such a annoying problem.

I was merely passing along a statement made by Majestic. I, however agree about P3d gaining market share. That is undeniable, as well as inevitable. Two things about stutters; 1. as mentioned by nicutapa, is to disable fsuipc's autosave feature.

2. try switching your outside view to locked spot. I use this mode, and do not have any stutters, stalls, jitters, or jumps.

The Q400 will be updated, it's just a matter of time. Time, that both LM and Majestic need, to work the kinks out of their respective projects.

 regards, Craig.

edit; forgot to include said message..."Questions of when the P3D version will be released - can/will have the potentiality of being ignored, bearing in mind that the PRO Edition is our main priority at the moment."

In FSX I get the Q400 stopping in midair and even going backwards sometimes. I also find on the ground it can act weirdly in terms of bouncing or just stuttering badly. It doesn't look like your video though.

Rob,

P3DV2 isn't being ignored.  There is a tremendous amount of work going on behind the scenes at Majestic and a very small but excellent team working on things.

Hang in there!

Mike, that is not normal. Though I'm guessing you do, it sounds like you don't have the updates installed.  It could also be scenery issues, settings, etc. So hard to tell from a post.

Would you please post at the Majestic forums and include your system specs?  I'm hopeful your issues can be resolved.

I fly 20+ hours per week in the Dash 9/Q400 Pro (basically the same flight dynamics as the 1.09 update) and it's incredible.

Hi Rob!

What mode of outside view do you use?  Flyby?

I fly it in P3d2.2 without an issue. Frames limited internally to 30, affinity mask 14 in the ini. The only change I do is manually set affinity to all cores before I start to taxy via windows and all the slew stutters go away, it is incredibly smooth.

I disable FlyBy ... use Locked Spot as that provides less jitters.

(ex.autosave feature of the FSUIPC or other ACARS from VA).

Haven't needed to use FSUIPC AutoSave with 2.2 so it's disabled.  No ACARS installed.  Any other software that needs to communicate with P3DV2.2 is done on separate PC (like EFB, ASN, FS Commander).

Hang in there!

No worries, plenty to keep me occupied, will keep hanging.

Yes, tried that process with various mask settings including 14.  It does help a little, but still not what I would consider enjoyable.  Also noticed that the Q400 seems to impact hi-res terrain loading more than any other aircraft ... again, probably related to threading issues.  I think it actually might be wise for Majestic to wait for v2.3 to get released before looking into this ... as I understand it there are some performance fixes on the way in 2.3 and I believe some are related to threading.

Not to worry, I can keep this aircraft in the hanger until a P3DV2.x version is released.  I was hoping that 1.009 may having something that addressed this issue, but it doesn't.  Holding pattern  :Peace:

Cheers, Rob.

Rob, did you try pressing Ctl Alt Del and setting affinity via Windows Control Panel regardless of affinity mask setting in P3d?
