May 22, 201412 yr I want to give flying on vatsim a try, I have already become a member but I am having trouble finding a download link for it, the one on vatsim's website would not work and I could not find one anywhere else. Could someone give me a link or tell me why I cant find one? Thanks, Ryan

May 23, 201412 yr Author Ok thanks, I considered it, but I somehow got the impression it was only compatible with fsx, I guess I was wrong. I just tried to start it up and it is giving me an error message saying it needed simconnect and it could not initialize core components, how do I fix this? I did some more research on this error and I need a program called simconnect, but It seems like it only comes with fsx, so is it even possible for an fs9 user to use vpilot?

"Welcome to the vPilot Web SitevPilot is an application used to connect Microsoft Flight Simulator 10 (FSX) to the VATSIM network." ..... I wish the FSX crowd and/or "dualies" would realize which forum they are in and stop giving "FSX ONLY" advice in here. Reading Is Fundamental!

Apologies, I was of the belief that VPILOT was also for FS9...try here http://squawkbox.ca/downloads/ "Welcome to the vPilot Web Site vPilot is an application used to connect Microsoft Flight Simulator 10 (FSX) to the VATSIM network." ..... At least I tried to help, which by the look of things, I am the only who did. I wish some people in this forum realise why they are here and wouldnt try to stop those who at least try to help. I think GRATITUDE and COURTESY are actually fundamental. Will Reynolds Flight Sim Addict
May 23, 201412 yr Author Ok thanks, the link worked (: (gwillmot, if you are so interested in helping the fs9 crowd then stop complaining and do something, Will gave me a link and actually helped, you didn't)
May 23, 201412 yr I for one believe that no advice is better than bad/false advice. Don't know anything about Vatsim/Squawkbox so didn't want to lead anyone in the wrong direction, so I didn't ....especially to a "newbie" RIF before posting is still valid and in effect. At least I did that to clarify the confusing situation caused by the initial responder. I wasn't "rude" and never stopped anyone who tries to help ......just don't like FSX information given to FS9 questions. If you call that "complaining", then yes ...... I did ..... and possibly will do again. Nuff said ...... I think

January 11, 20179 yr I reinstalled Win7 and tried to install FSX but had many problems (it worked quite well before the Win reinstall). So, I installed FS9 and have enjoyed using FS Navigator again. I decided to connect to VATSIM after a number of years and installed FSInn; however, it still has the problem of connecting 2 aircraft in flight (or,a ghost of another a/c). I tried installing vPilot but have been unable to connect to a server (tried all of them and checked firewall and vPilot is OK). Just now, another vPilot problem arose: failed to detect simconnect.dll. (I won't complain about being unable to install FSX on a new computer due to MS policy but that's another story.) So, any suggestions re: vPilot connecting with a server? (I can't find simconnect.dll) in FS9 (root folder or modules??). Active Sky works well and mYAAS flight recorder from air-source.us which I believe require simconnect.dll. FSUIPC4 installed and working. Perplexed and looking for some answers.
January 11, 20179 yr Hi Vpilot does not work with FS9 so unless you have FSX installed it won't be much use to you. however there is an answer to your Fsinn problem where one plane "sticks "to you. You have to go into the settings and disable P2P and also I believe installing the loopback adapter is important. More info here: http://faq.apollo3.com/ljames/fsinn/vatsim/faq/#PlaneFollowingPilot I have been using Fsinn for many years now and had virtually no issues only last year I set it up networked on a virtual machine, which was pretty simple. For FS9 there is also a new vatsim pilot client in development call "swift" , it is a long way from completeion and going slow but one day we will see it hopefully http://swift-project.org/

Not sure which version it is exactly, but it's version 3 something. Haven't used it in years.
January 11, 20179 yr domvc10, thanks, so much, for the tip on stopping the mid-air bonding! ...never would've thought to look there. looking forward to "swift".
