May 28, 201412 yr Re: Bug: Was planning to once I really really tested a bunch to ensure the same thing keeps happening. Have a fresh 10.3b1 about to start over with...again, right now today to see if it all happens again. Just insure that you only change 1 thing at a time and test. If not, you may find yourself wrapped around the axle not knowing the cause. Just a suggestion. bob Officially retired

That's how this whole thing is making me feel actually. :-) I'm used to such consistency from X-Plane that it's been really throwing me for a loop to have the same settings give different results randomly. Thanks Bob.

Bob Bob Bob...I have to believe that you also have on top of any other things you are finding....continuous rain, that ignores the atmospherics, displayed, whether SkyMaxx Pro, or stock...am I right?

Hey Mitch, nope, no rain (stock). My only issue is the reported fps with the same flight and no change to anything. It has to be something not being freed. It just smells that way to me. Another suggested that I look at either my plugins (of which I have two..), and perhaps an airplane...(of which I am flying the Carenado SkyMaster...and had no issues using this for most flights (love the sled...) with .25. Totally stumped.... Salute, Mitch

All of my settings with the exception of shadows (3d on aircraft), water (low), clouds (25%) are maxed. I am impressed with the autogen levels and the smoothness at the maxed levels, but, I get different fps results each time I load the same situation. Now, even thought the fps changes, the smoothness seems the same. The difference is in frames is only about 20% so not sure what to think. I cannot tell the difference even in FSX or P3D between 33 and 26 to be honest. Bob Officially retired

Bob Bob, I think I figured it out....it is possibly that your V-Ram on your graphics card is getting exhausted, with eventual failure. I just started (exploring what I am reading here...) doing the same as you, and took a beautifully running sim (coming back after tweaking this, tweaking that...) the same scenario...and brought the (not the sim...itself...) display FPS down to its knees. I went (from continuously changing setting values...and returning to the scenario) 30 FPS down to a chopping, stuttering 8. I then ended the session, rebooted my entire system..(which refreshed the driver and reset the G-card. Fired up XPX.30...went to the saved CYTZ (Toronto City Centre) scenario..and right back up to a smooth..no...UBER smooth 29-30. I think that it is not the sim that is not releasing system memory...but it is the V-Ram memory capacity (with continuous driver-loaded change ups within the sim) that deteriorates throughout until you see a degradation of FPS.... Even shutting down the sim, to the desktop...and bringing it back up...did not clear the driver-loaded 'whatever'. It takes a total system reboot...and that leads me to the fact that the nVidia driver registers need to be 'cleaned' by a total re-initializing....per System Restart/Reboot. My thoughts.....

I think you may be on to something with this. I'm finding similar things today in my testing of a fresh 10.3b1 install. Beyond that. Clouds are a disaster FPS wise right now. Using SkyMaxx sort of gets around it with tweaking, but that really just "hides" the problems by showing less -- which to me looks ridiculous. Having SkyMaxx show "less" of a layer you're above is a non-starter when I can see a bit into the distance and the ground below an overcast layer (simply from no clouds being drawn out in front very far to keep FPS working). Hopefully there's lots of optimizing yet to go on the new clouds. As they currently are working, they aren't (for me) anyhow. The sim can be mostly maxxed and blistering at nearly 60fps and just "breathing in the direction" of the clouds can bring it all to a halt (standard, no SkyMaxx) even when all the way down at 10% puffs.

Well, XP states about 1.5 gig being used. My EVGA tool shows about the same. Is there another tool that I might be able to verify? I also have GPU-Z but not sure if that reports VRam or not. In theory then if clouds are set to zero then we should not see the problem, Would you agree? How bout you Mitch? I am not at my rig, can you guys give this a shot? Bob Officially retired

Bob I have a 2 gig card, but highly overclocked at the factory by EVGA. I have seen this before, in FSX as well as P3D v2.2. If you keep going to the menus..and turn up this, turning down that...continuing with the flight...you will either degrade, jerk, stutter...or have outright driver failure, and a loss of connection, or CTD. So..that leads me to believe that no matter how much RAM, you have..the continual adjusting of in-system parameters of any flight simulation engine...will wear down the driver's ability to control the card...and anomalies unfold. A system reboot always brings everything back to pristine....video wise... My thoughts.... Well, XP states about 1.5 gig being used. My EVGA tool shows about the same. Bob Bob...it's not the clouds..or any one action..to turn something off, scale it back, or advance the visual of that element. I think it is a cumulative event, happening here. If you can set up your simulation engine, visually as you can be happy...and then leave it alone...for all the time you are using it...this will not rear its head. Bob..try this...adjust to what you can be happy with. Shut down XPX, FSX, P3D..FS9..whatever...and reboot to the desk top. Fire up your choice of platform..and DO NOT go to the graphic setting menu. Fly...from the numbers to the numbers. You will see this pans out...your FPS will stay stable. Also..if you have saved a scenario....coming from a rebooted or freshly turned on system...will give you back all that you can produce from your system, in that very same scenario. That is also what I have found with mine. Continual fiddling around with the Graphic Settings....slowly produces a stroke in the V-Card and the driver pumping out the beats....
May 28, 201412 yr I needed to OC the FX 6300 to 4.0 Gzzz now trying how much FPS is gained / lost. also just installed UltraWX . Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus

Hi, I already did this and what I found was exactly what you are saying, I just thought it might be pointing to something in particular. What is it that they could have done to cause such a gross bug? It would have to be obvious to the devs because I did not notice this in 25. I will do more when I get done with my chores. We had a crap load of rain here and trying to clean up the back yard a little bit and get the pool cleaned out and ph balanced again. I asked the wife for a landscaper and a pool guy but I don't think she is going to go for it. Bob Bob Officially retired

May 28, 201412 yr LOL....win the Power Ball...and all 'this' goes away.... Been buying tickets for 10 years now and promised I would give 1/2 of it away to the poor. I even promised I would give away 2/3 then 3/4 but no one is listening. Maybe if I promise to give it all away.............. Officially retired
