Whoa, the visibility and fog fixes might not get into 10.30 at all?

Whoa, the visibility and fog fixes might not get into 10.30 at all?

Well, I would say, its "unclear" at the moment .... just read Ben Supniks words:

We’re working on a number of visual improvements:

  • Tuning and improvements to the look of the clouds, including their behavior as you fly into and out of them.
  • Optionally increasing the distance the DSF scenery is drawn for better long-range rendering.
  • Better fog in lower visibility situations.  (I’ll try to post some experimental pictures over the next few days.)

This stuff is not finished – in particular, my fog work is not done yet, but if we can get it all working together it should make the visual experience in X-Plane 10 a lot better, and a lot closer to what we imagined.

How are you "locking" the frame rate in X-Plane?

Do you mean "locked to monitor" drop down or something else?

Thanks

Yes...I have locked to monitor at 30...and then in N.I.   vsync set to Standard and at 1/2 refresh rate..which is 60 Hz on my system..so you get with the sim locked at 30...most excellent performance. I just wish I could use this with P3D 2.2.....but alas...at the moment, you can not....

Don't forget HDR set to max AA.  Try turning it up on FSX and see the fps drop.

Oh, sorry...FSX doesn't have HDR.  My bad.

Right...when I posted the full-out sim on my system giving me some 18's...(which fluctuates higher, here and there..but never lower..) that was of course with HDR on, and everything else the sim can master. I think this is fabulous performance...even if only looking back to .25!

Significant loss in fps for me, down from 25-30+ to less then 10 now  :O

Have reset graphics settings all the way down to min but no change, no matter what I choose. Can't find anything else to change in Hydravision.

My 2X HD4850 showing their age I guess, but I swear with 10.25 I had way better frames.

I wonder if it is an installation issue...could something being downloaded..have come down in a corrupted format?   Just wondering...

Interestingly, this theory is more often than rarely voiced by fellow simmers ... even though its almost never the case (and which resulted in countless, unnecessary re-installations). At least 99.99% sure, that an error like that, would not make itself be felt thorugh bad FPS ...

With the bad FPS, I would rather think about some driver issues (new / old driver?) in combination with the "big changes" in the internals of the rendering engine (Ben Supnik hinted at them). Or maybe it has something to do with the SLI rendering (at least, thats how I understand "2X HD4850") ... which is something, X-Plane doesn't really "supports" (even if it works - kind of). ...

Nice rig, you definitely must be going crazy now with 10.30b1

I finally had a chance to update and give it a go, and the one thing I did notice was improved FPS with World2XPlane scenery, not much, but noticeable. Since I use Skymaxx Pro, I didn't check the clouds, but I'm very happy with the new GPS, which finally lets you control it with the mouse-wheel (which is a huge step forward). The GPS also comes with the latest May 2014 data, and the few approaches I checked were all there. I couldn't get it to work in some of my favourites such as the Bell 407, but I'm sure updates will appear eventually to sort this out. The GPS works as expected and is very similar to what I'm used to with the RealityXP units in FSX. (Now let's hope someone will also eventually do a GTN 750, like Flight1 have just done for FSX )

Additionally, the internal roads.net changes work, so as well as now enabling us to have our own custom roads (in addition to X-Plane's), we can also finally control the placement of pylons on electric lines and ski-lifts, etc..

The lighting tweaks still all seem to work.

Also, some more changes are yet to come (e.g. The visibility and fog (which may not come in 10.30)), but also for aircraft and plugins to be updated/created which use the new features in 10.30

Tony,

 What lighting tweaks ?

I think on my laptop i have lost FPS.

Oh, sorry...FSX doesn't have HDR. My bad.

P3Dv2.2 does though, Thats what Mitch has most recently been flying.

How is the Ai and ATC coming along in 10.3 ?

You see what happened was   and then there was the nasty bug that   and smoke, yeah lots of smoke. ^_^ So as you can see we are in this to win it. :Nail Biting:

Anyone else notice the autogen seems much better now?

There are STILL people that don't fly online????

I don't care as much about the ATC as I do about AI traffic. I'd like to think at some point some talented developer will come up with a traffic program along the lines of My Traffic X.
