May 26, 201412 yr 2014 is looking amazing for our hobby: P3Dv2 & XP10 are maturing like a fine red wine :good:
May 26, 201412 yr One puzzling issue here. I had loaded a situation and was flying between KSEA and the skyline at dusk. I was hitting 45fps. I flew a little bit longer and reloaded the same sit. This time I was at 32 fps. I rebooted then loaded the sit and back to 45. Something not quite right and cannot explain it. Also, I have programmed a switch (up-down) on my Saitek yoke for pitch trim. It flat does not work. What is interesting is that I programmed this switch in the 64 bit version. When running the 32 bit version it does not work, even if I remove it and then reassign. Also, with the mouse I am unable to use up-down switches with the mouse. I can use the mouse for those switches which are rotary, but not the others. So some very strange behaviour in different areas at this time. One question: Is there a parking break key assigned? Bob Officially retired
May 26, 201412 yr Moderator One question: Is there a parking break key assigned? I think it's the "B" key by default
May 26, 201412 yr I think it's the "B" key by default LOL, please don't ask why I did not hit the B key. I tried the Space bar the P key. Don't ask!! Thanks for reply. As posted previously I cannot get the mouse to work on switches in the VC, just the rotary ones. Bob HI, Couple of questions for the XP10 Gurus. What auxillery files are shared by both the 32 and 64 bit versions? Saved Flights, controls, everything in the UI? I am having some issues and trying to figure it out. Bob Officially retired
May 26, 201412 yr Another strange one. When I move the clock from 1600 hours to 17:30 or s hours, there are no ground lights on yet, but my frames go from 24 to 33 or so. It happens in both 32 and 64 bit. It must be the shadowing or something. I think I experienced this before this patch, but I do not remember the severity. This is really puzzling. Also, after fiddling in the UI and sometimes not changing anything, going back to flight there is another decrease in fps. I wish I knew. Bob Officially retired

May 26, 201412 yr you know. it could be that this i just beta? Oh sure I am aware of that. Just posting to see if anyone else has the same issue, and of course, if the devs are listening....................... Bob Officially retired

Bob much better to report here i think http://dev.x-plane.com/support/bugreport.html this is what ben said about bugs We do not read the various third party X-Plane forums. If you find a bug and you discuss it on the org or avsim or fs.com for 10 pages and do not report the bug in the form, we do not know about it. Please do not assume that someone else will report the bug – you’d be amazed how often everyone thought someone else would make the real report.* Also, while I’m ranting, please do not link to forums that require logins or memberships with bug reports; a forum discussion is not a clean bug report!

Good idea. The only thing missing is community input here. Can I verify this as a bug based on just me alone. I don't think so. This would need to be validated with the crowd to some degree so I will just continue to report what I find, and go from there. Thanks though. Bob Officially retired
May 26, 201412 yr Lol everyone is saying 10.30 is awesome ! hmm where ? I only see the cloud changes and that's great. But clouds anyway eat up my fps, so unless i am in the mountains i tend to go CAVOK. Again am i missing something ? ??? Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus

Bob Yes, this is nothing new ... was the same with 10.25 and is - as you correctly suspected yourself - mostly due to terrain shadowing. When the sun is too low, the shadowing is "disabled" on the fly, which - of course - gains you quite a few FPS. This is just the nature of the beast, and I don#t think it qualifies as a bug ... (shadows just plain cost FPS). It would seem to me that if the code was modular and written with this in mind we would not be dealing with this, but....................... I hope the can break this out and allow it to be configured by the end user. Bob Officially retired

And you have a shadow control via the rendering option "shadow detail" ... (and internally, XP10 has even more art controls ... but Laminar usually chooses to make config a simple as possible, and hides complex stuff).
