What are your favorite addons and flight planners?

Featured Replies

Not planes or scenery or the list will get long :)

For me addons:

FSCaptain - Only been using it two days, but it is replacing FSPassengersX for me. It rocks!

Active Sky Next -  Awesome, but I wish you could run it on more than one PC (I sometimes fly on my laptop)

EZCA -  A must have for me

Pro Flight Emulator - It has very good voices, but I will replace it someday

Rexx Overdrive - Just for the textures, I did not like its weather (hence the reason for ASN)

GSX - Makes things more immersive

FS2CREW - Run this in voice mode, I love the FO assisting me during the flight

Flight Planning:

PFPX or FSCommander 9.2

Topcat

I have more than that, but those are becoming my favorites.

I love GSX, it adds so much immersion that default FSX was lacking. It's also nice to have REX for textures.

For flight planning, Simbrief is the best freeware out there!

PFPX & Aivlasoft's EFB are my two "must-have" addons. (Not including aircraft, scenery, etc..)

ASN is great too..

ASN, PFPX, TOPCAT... and a sweet little $3 android app (there's a free version too) called FSMoveMapPro that shows a moving map of FSX in Google earth so I can learn some geography and track flights while away from the desk.

Never heard of Simbrief,  my freeware one is Plan-G, I use it for VFR.  I'll check out Simbrief

ADE and MCX are incredible tools. In fact, I think all of Scruffy Duck's software deserves mad respect. Professional level development for free, and to think how much revenue it's generated for payware developers... Blows my mind.

For me it's in no particular order, ASN, SimBrief, GSX, ForeFlight and FlightSimGPS for moving map on Foreflight.

So many things I never even heard of!  I am a gadget lover and love these addons like candy, of course I can't use them all the time but some are really cool.  I am going to research some of the ones you guys posted.

So you don't mind seeing airports that look very empty?

John Miles

I am not a real flyer, but for quick and dirty and free, Plan-G works marvels for me for flight planning.  And Oh Yes, did I say 'free'.

I left out scenery because there is so much of it (and I do have some), and no I don't use traffic AI beyond what comes with FSX.

Do they use free tools like Blender 3D, or commercial tools like Modo, 3DS Max, Lightwave, etc. to create planes and scenery objects?
