I was responding to the statement from "Glen_Chambers" that it would make things better if only paying customers could access the forum. It was not a comment that PMDG would implement this system.

 

The fact it that avsim has poor performance and people can disguise it all they want by saying it because of this release or that release. There will always be a new release or an upcoming release. Just look at the amount of time people that end up posting numerous duplicate threads. What I'm saying is that Avsim has poor performance it's undeniable that is what this thread is about not about the moderation at all. And no I do not wish to send questions into a funnel and hope an answer comes back and no I do not have Facebook, never have and never will. I only visit this forum PMDG and occaisonally Radar Contact, both products I have purchased so I most definately will not be donating to a service that I think should be in with the price of the products, that is my view on things and as anyone else here I am entitled to my view.

 

If others want to donate up to them. I dare say it will not improve matters as the underlying cause is most likely the outdated forum software and/or that the forum software is not finely tuned enough for the amount of users that are using it but that's just guess work on my part.

Does anybody know if the pay ware developers pay AVSIM for the use of the forums. If they do and they do not complain, I don't see how people who use the forum for free can complain. If you say it is because it's for support, then there are other options for that such as ticket systems or by email.

 

Before the invention of the Internet, people use things such as the telephone which cost money, letters which took days, even weeks, or was left in the hands of retailers who normally knew nothing about the products. You should all be thankful that you can press a button an find the information you want. If it is down for a day or two then so what. I've said it before, we live in a 'I want it now' society.

 

If people want to reduce the load on AVSIM then people should make use of the search function to find answers, instead people post the same questions over and over. These usually end up being answered with the usual answers of "read the manual", "use the search, this topic has been covered numerous times", or my favourite "It will be released when it is released".

 

I'm not a lover of moderators either, one in particular who didn't bother to read a post before making judgement, but I don't like traffic wardens either, they are a necessary evil. They are needed to police the forum and to keep it in order. Of this I think, for the most, they do a good job.

No commercial vendor pays us for forum space. We provide the service to companies like PMDG for free and we have done so for nearly 16 years or so.

And when you leave because you don't like the service....it is not like trying to break up with Comcast.......Just walk away

They try their best to maintain the service but sometimes things happens and it gets a bit overloaded. Sometimes my post is delayed, sometimes the local garage is closed for reason I do not know. It is life so it is no good pointing the finger at AVSIM and moaning. It's simple. if you don't like it, either don't use it, complain to developers to invest in there own forum or use the ticket service.

Sorry that my figure of speech was lost on you.  My point is that PMDG, and the likes, brings in thousands of members, which in turn makes advertisers quite happy to spend their money advertising here.  Why upset such a win-win situation?
