Any exciting Labor Day sales for FSX/P3D?

Featured Replies

Only two I have seen so far are the Earth Simulations already mentioned and the PC Aviator Labor Day Sale. I was hoping for more.

Ray,

The only other sale I found is 40% off Tropical Sim scenery at Simmarket.  However I don't beleive their scenery is P3D compatible. They have a other stuff on sale but nothing to do with Labor Day.

Happy Labor day.

I rarely buy stuff at full price.  I'm looking forward to the next Flightbeam sale, I'd like some of their sceneries.

Well Aerosoft have a sale on Holiday Airports products until Monday.

Not sure if it's Labour day induced, but hey the timing is right anyway :)

Their sales are an insult to people who buy the download version. A majority (shown by the demographic survey last year) are purchased through download. Boxed price + shipping is higher than normal download price. Not sure how they think that's a sale for the loyal people who purchase through download. Very irritating and insulting.

I'm not sure I follow?

To take an example, Gibraltar X with shipping to the UK

RRP

19.99 EUR + 5.60 EUR shipping or

18.95 EUR download only

Sale

15.99 EUR + 5.60 EUR shipping or

15:16 EUR download only

Physical version (even on sale) is more expensive than the non-sale download.  The sale is 20% off the base price for either boxed or download, I'm not sure how that's insulting or annoying?

I'm not trying to defend Aerosoft (I only have their Lightning), but I genuinely don't see what's wrong with their sale.

The bottom part of your example is incorrect as there is no sale on downloaded versions, only boxed. Download version stays at 18.95. To be able to take advantage of the sale I'd have I'd have to buy the boxed version which even on sale + shipping is higher than the download versions regular price. My beef is that 90%+ (as per the demographic survey on purchases) never get to take advantage of these type of Holiday sales with Aerosoft.

Sorry, but in this case you are wrong, the sale is on both versions as the screenshot below demonstrates.  Download is 15.16 EUR (red box is mine for emphasis).

Not a clue if this matches previous form, but it seems consistent across the sale items so on this occasion at least you can take advantage of their sales.  And that's a good thing

Not true. Only on the boxed version. for the US anyway which is even more irritating. http://www.aerosoft.com/cgi-local/us/iboshop.cgi?show270 main banner only refers to BOXED.

Freeware developer Pompeii, Italy and Mount Vesuvius (pompeii_italy.zip) and A380 Flight plans (ai_a380_flightplans_redux.zip).

Ah, it seems they have completely different sales depending on whether you click into the EU or US portion of the site.

So I guess we are both right, for our own region at least

I see why that would be annoying, but then again I'm more annoyed by the widespread use of 1 USD = 1 GBP most companies seem to use, so it feels nice to be on the better side of that for a change

Just bought Seychelles and Holiday Airports2 at that 20%. The way I look at it-----and I have bought several downloads from them------20% off is better in my pocket that theirs.

I would speculate that Aerosoft has an overstock on product in the US that they are trying to reduce - their sales for the last year seem to be only for box editions in the US store. Their stores for other countries seem to offer more sales on downloads.

For those of us in Canada, this is bad news as I believe we need to use the US store to avoid EU or other country taxes, but the shipping of boxed products from the US is really prohibitive. This amounts to no sale for Canadians. These are the shipping prices in USD:

For deliveries within the United States:

1 item: US $ 3.95

2 items: US $ 5.95

For deliveries to Canada:

1 item: US $ 19.95

2 items: US $ 29.95

So a $23.99 product on sale for 20% off will cost about $40 USD by the time it gets to the door. If the product was actually manufactured in the EU as well, we would also stand the risk of being charged import duty on top of this. Certainly understand that it is still 20% off what the regular price would be - but I would prefer to stick with download products instead of paying such a high cost for shipping. (This may actually reflect their shipping cost + labour as well, but my point is that it almost doubles the price of the average product on sale - so it would only be attractive to those that are dead against ever buying downloads).

I use to buy Aerosoft product only from Aerosoft, but in the last year I have been buying from PCAviator when they have sales instead, simply due to these boxed product only sales.

One poor chap mentioned this on their forums quite a while ago and got shutdown pretty quick.

I really like Aerosoft as a company, believe they contribute very positively to the flightsim community and continue to buy downloads on occasion, but hope they are able to offer more downloads in their US sales again soon.

There are some posts over at Orbx about a 2 for 1 sale at A2A Simulations but, I did not see anything about it at their store site.

That was me lol. I just couldn't get them to see my point. Maybe they chose to ignore it. I haven't bought anything from them since. Which was averaging over $500 per year. Maybe more if I really added it up, but I don't really want to know lol.
