Great Deal on Orbx addons at the flightsimstore.com!
Only fuss with DVDs, (or anything) being sent into Canada is the risk of duty and brokerage fees. FSS indicates they use the postal service, and under $25 is duty free into Canada - but if the same package was sent by UPS/FedEx/DHL - they automatically charge a minimum brokerage fee and duty on everything - a $15 purchase can be slapped with an additional $30 or $40 of fees ontop. Had it recently happen with a single DVD purchase and UPS. As long as it is mail - it's low risk - but anything else is a gamble.

Great Deal on Orbx addons at the flightsimstore.com!
Can't quite bring myself to send to a fake address - figure it will come back to me in some way. Did discover that that there is a significant cost bump between 3 and 4 DVD's for international shipping. Had 4 in the shopping cart, to be sent to Canada, and shipping was > $30, was about to walk away, but decided to remove one item, and for 3 DVD's - the shipping was < $15. Just under $10 CDN in total for each airport. Not a bad deal at all. The ordering of the download version of each for $0 works like a charm.

Any exciting Labor Day sales for FSX/P3D?
I would speculate that Aerosoft has an overstock on product in the US that they are trying to reduce - their sales for the last year seem to be only for box editions in the US store. Their stores for other countries seem to offer more sales on downloads. For those of us in Canada, this is bad news as I believe we need to use the US store to avoid EU or other country taxes, but the shipping of boxed products from the US is really prohibitive. This amounts to no sale for Canadians. These are the shipping prices in USD: For deliveries within the United States: 1 item: US $ 3.95 2 items: US $ 5.95 For deliveries to Canada: 1 item: US $ 19.95 2 items: US $ 29.95 So a $23.99 product on sale for 20% off will cost about $40 USD by the time it gets to the door. If the product was actually manufactured in the EU as well, we would also stand the risk of being charged import duty on top of this. Certainly understand that it is still 20% off what the regular price would be - but I would prefer to stick with download products instead of paying such a high cost for shipping. (This may actually reflect their shipping cost + labour as well, but my point is that it almost doubles the price of the average product on sale - so it would only be attractive to those that are dead against ever buying downloads). I use to buy Aerosoft product only from Aerosoft, but in the last year I have been buying from PCAviator when they have sales instead, simply due to these boxed product only sales. One poor chap mentioned this on their forums quite a while ago and got shutdown pretty quick. I really like Aerosoft as a company, believe they contribute very positively to the flightsim community and continue to buy downloads on occasion, but hope they are able to offer more downloads in their US sales again soon. - Jim

Aerosoft forum hacked?
I have noticed the same thing - spent a bit of time googling around to see if it was on my end or theirs - found this article where another fellow running a forum had the same issue.... http://peter.upfold.org.uk/blog/2013/01/15/cleaning-up-the-ip-board-url4short-mess/ Looks like aerosoft forums have been compromised...

Vroute fuel planning in Beta
*this is also posted on the Majestic support site; repeated here to catch all vroute Q400 users Folks - Vroute fuel planning has been updated for the Majestic Q400. This is beta only and is subject to testing and subsequent tweaking as required. To have a new aircraft added to the fuel planning section of vroute, what the developer requires is that a volunteer does a bunch of test flights and collects the required data to calculate in-route/taxi/minimum/etc fuel. I volunteered, and certainly could use assistance/feedback from other Q400/vroute users. I do believe that you need the premium as opposed to the free vroute in order to see the fuel planning section. The data supplied is based on 40639 lbs Dry Operating Weight/Mass, as specified as default in the Q400 Control Panel. In looking at the stats for quite a few Q400's, this value does fluctuate based on the configuration and makeup of the aircraft. There are many fleets that have lighter Dry Operating Weights, but many that are right in this range as well. I believe the developers designed the Q400 with this as a DOM, so it is what has been submitted. If you are a Vroute user, please do try out a few routes and see how accurate the fuel planner is for you. This is only beta and will need feedback from vroute users to confirm whether it is close to being accurate. You can leave your feedback here if you believe the values need to be tweaked, or of course directly on the vroute forum. Should state again that I am just a volunteer tester and Q400/vroute user, and not the developer, but can incorporate any opinions/experience/corrections of your fuel planning into the test results for submission. Jim PS: If you are not a vroute user, but want to check it out... http://www.vroute.net

Q400 version 1.007
No improvements over the previous version for AirHauler. Your only option to get engine start to be recognized is to do a <CTL><E> on startup once you set the props to max (Ctl-E will force them to max, which is a challenge during flight!). You will need to repeat the CTL-E just before landing to have that register as it seems to stop sending whatever data AirHauler needs during the flight. Registering the vertical speed on landing works fine since the last update. Great plane - but AirHauler users will share many of the same deficiencies as some VA ACARS. It's workable though.

FS2crew voice addition for PMDG MD 11
Just to keep the request alive - I would purchase a voice edition of the MD11 - even if it did not have all the features that would normally be included if a SDK was available. (Did purchase the button version a while back, have not installed it and may not, enjoy the voice versions of the 747/JS41/LDS767/737NGX too much to fly the MD11 with keyboard/mouse clicks only on the crew side)...

Unable to resize undocked main panel
Thanks for the quick response and great work on the product Bryan. Will give that a go, have not had any issues with doing the same with other fs2crew products, if I have an issue with this I will change my ways!Cheers - Jim

Unable to resize undocked main panel
Really enjoying the first flights out with FS2Crew - great job again!!!I have encountered a minor issue, and wondering if any one else has experienced it. I always undock the main FS2CREW panel and drag it to a 2nd monitor. I also drag the FMS and CDU or other gauges to the 2nd monitor and resize them all to fit. Unlike previous FS2Crew main panels, I can not resize this one! Not sure if this is a strange fsx thing, or if there is a parameter to allow the undocked window to be resized. Seems odd - anyone else have this (using 737-800WL).JimPS: This is pretty trivial, and the only problem that I have had so far! Great product!!!!!!

Manuals on website
But having an online manual assumes that you will flip back and forth between the sim and a browser if you are using a single monitor - not very practical. Will print out flows and other frequently used sections, but really did prefer the full pdf manual for printing...

Still getting 'check' loop on Before Start
Thanks Bryan.Complete a flight this evening using just the manual, and not the cheat sheet. Had no issue at all on this one, but was very careful to follow the flow exactly, so I am not sure at all what the trigger is. Will report back if I find something that can be reproduced.J

Still getting 'check' loop on Before Start
I have only had 4 or 5 flights with the 767 voice edition so far and got the 'check check' issue on the last 2. Although I am certain that I installed the update with the initial install, I reinstalled it after getting this issue the 1st time. The next flight after the reinstall, the FO slipped into the 'check check' routine right after TO, (The first time was just after the cruise level was reached). I did continue with both flights, turning off voice and then turning it on again on occasion, but it seems once the FO gets into the check check loop, it can not be broken out of. System is Win 64 (i7 series CPU, 8 Gb ram) with FSX.One commonality with a previous poster is that I have not been able to get the oil quantity check recognized. Will try another flight this evening and skip the "clear on the right" call" as per a previous post.As a new fs2crew user, I know that I am certainly not following the flow 100% - will report back if I find any consistent action that triggers the check check loop, but any other suggestions would certainly be welcome...

Newbie questions: Panel Switcher Mapping & Verticle speed overruns
Just picked up JS41 Voice Control this past weekend, first FS2CREW product for me. My overall reaction after setting everything up and going through a couple of flights – WOW! This really does take the sim experience to a new level! The documentation was pretty straight forward, and found searching the forum for the few issues I had netted results pretty quick. The process of learning the flows and practicing the correct commands/responses will take some time – but that challenge is certainly what makes the product great! There are 2 or 3 custom flow sheets on Avsim that folks have drafted up that are really helpful. The only two areas that I need a bit of assistance with: 1: Changes to VC views in the aircraft.cfg: The documentation gave me a heads up on changes to the panel.cfg’s – so I did a backup of the originals, however I did not see or missed the part about changes to the aircraft.cfg. I had previously modified my views and assigned certain hotkeys. The end result seems to be that the panel switcher does not map correctly to the views. 2 questions on this: a: Are the panel switcher buttons tied to the ‘hotkey’ entries in aircraft.cfg? if so..... b: Can anyone offer up their aircraft.cfg that works correctly with the panel switcher so that I can check through mine and make changes so the views map correctly to the buttons? 2) Vertical speed overrun. According to a couple of forum posts, this seems to be related to me not using the correct syntax for the voice commands. Fell into this trap when the FO did not respond to my correctly formatted voice command (voice recognition did not pick it up correctly), and then I gave the same command in a slightly different way (incorrect syntax). The FO then set vertical speed to something rather dangerous. Will head back for more voice training and make sure I stick to the correct syntax only. Question on this: When an overrun or other unexpected action is experienced, is there a way to ‘reset’ the First Officer so he stops setting vertical speed or whatever else he believes that he has been asked to do? Great product! Really enjoying it and can see moving on to the LD 767 and PMDG 747/MD11 versions after getting the hand of things on the Jetstream! Cheers - Jim Edit: Just caught the typo in the subject: verticle should be vertical (is there no way to edit a subject?)

Couple ?'s before I open my boxed 747
On question #3: My system is not far off from yours, certainly less capable in some areas (Intel Q9550, Nvidia 9800GT (1GB DDR3), 6GB DDR2, Vista64, FSX). I have both products, and find that the 747-400 and 800 are slightly less of a hit on frames simply by the way I use it. The 747 has 2d panels available that I run off of a second monitor. The Jetstream, with VC only, I end up putting a closeup view of the instrument panel on my secondary monitor, and then switch between VC and external views on the primary. With 2 VC’s open, I certainly take a bigger hit with the Jetstream than the 747. My settings for the Jetstream are similar to yours as well, although I do have icing on. Even with a system that certainly needs updating, I find that both are very usable, and simply adjust sliders as required if I am flying out of a complex airport. That being said, the MD-11 still works the best for me – or more correctly, the way I use 2 monitors and a mix of 2d screens and the VC. I enjoy all 3 planes though, and find all are very useable on my system.

Piaggio Avanti 180 from Wilco
Thanks so much for the reply. I have FSX with Acceleration on an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550, 8 GB Memory, 9800GT Graphics Card (memory is way overkill, it was either 4 or 8, 4 was more than enough). I did commit that fatal error by changing two things at once! I did install Overlands RKSI Incheon Airport scenery just prior to the Wilco install. I started FSX and did a reboot between the two installs. Tested the Wilco product at default airports though. Good that Wilco is taking bug reports from other users

Piaggio Avanti 180 from Wilco
Thanks - UAC is turned off. Permissions on all directories are set too allow full access. Addon was installed with Admin rights. I do not have any issues with other addons from all the PMDG craft to the LDS 767, Ejets, Eagle Soft Citation X, and so on... Only 2 issues - and they are really not show stoppers. Sound cuts out on the plane when on an external view - ie spot view. The sound restores if I switch to VC or any other view. On the car, CTD when hitting shift-1 for panel. Not a biggie with the car as I don't really need to see a panel - but was looking forward to taking a cruise around some of the addon airports with it though!Have not really taken a solid flight in the plane yet to see if any of the other reported issues exist. Cheers - Jim

Piaggio Avanti 180 from Wilco
To be fair, their site states that they do not support FSX on Win XP 64 or Vista 64, however I purchased the product knowing that. The response to my trouble ticket simply reiterated that fact without any comment at all on the issues, and closed with the statement that Microsoft themselves do not support FSX on Vista 64. I do not believe that English was an issue; the response was well worded and very direct. Given that they state upfront that they do not support the OS that I run their plane on, it is certainly up to their discretion as to whether or not they provide any form of support or comment on the issues. They have chosen not. Purchasing the product was a gamble that I should not have taken. Live and Learn - will wait for the reviews to come out first next time!- Jim Edit: I do have the E-Jets prodcut from Wilco, which is not supported on Vista 64 either, but have enjoyed it bug-free for a fairly long time, thus the rational for the purchase.

Piaggio Avanti 180 from Wilco
Picked it up last night - and agree with the reports that current release is pretty buggy. Only two that I would add to the bugs to watch out for are that sound cuts out quite a bit if I switch to an external view while in flight, and with the included ferrari - I get a CTD if I try to view the panel (shift+1). Using Vista 64. Sent a note off to Wilco. Got a very combative and unfriendly response telling me that even MS does not support FSX on Win XP 64/Vista 64, that I should have installed the product under admin rights (which I did in the first place), and that I need to read their (oh so comprehensive (scarsim mine)) support page. There is lots of feedback and warnings in the forums about Wilco customer support and the quality of their products, they have lived up to their reputation on both counts with this release - (I certainly can not claim that I did not have advance warning on tossing my $ away on this). Good to hear the the dev behind the product is more attentive to feedback that Wilco themselves.

How is Aeorsoft TahitiX on FPS
The original query in the thread was about Tahiti X. My opinion on the product is that it hits the framerates much to hard to be useable
