Orbx PNW Tour - sightseeing over Vancouver Island Sep 13

Featured Replies

I've been asked to guide a scenic flight, starting from KORS, Orcas Island, Sep 13.

Here is a teaser for what awaits you   (Ron, I'm counting on the server delivering fine weather!)

Some freeware airports that will enhance the flight:

Stuff 4FS - CYCD (2012)

Stuff 4FS - CYYJ (2014)

And if you are looking to spend money,  Victoria+ by Jon Patch is really nice..

Oh Bert, if only I had some power over the weather! The server is set for user preference so if you want to be a big girl you can have sunshine aaaall day. What's the weather forecast for the area on Saturday?

Here is the proposed flight plan...

Taking off from KORS, Orcas Island, following the coast of Vancouver Island with a fly-by of my residence in Maple Bay, a touch and go at CAM3 Duncan airfield, followed by a full stop landing in CYCD Nanaimo.  From there, a scenic flight along Lake Cowichan and Nitinat Lake, and a hop over open water to 11S Sekiu.  From there a short flight to KNOW Port Angeles.

Then a fly-over over the capital of BC, Victoria, enroute to our final destination, CYYJ Victoria International Airport.

I plan to fly an RV7.   Anything that will do 130 knots and has good visibility would be suitable.

Hopefully you-all have Orbx PNW installed..  if not, even the PNW demo will be helpful.

Bert

Sounds good to me.

..and if you are flying the RV7, I can highly recommend adding a GTN750 GPS to the panel.

I've got a Digiflight autopilot GTN mod available  for whoever wants to try the combination.

Well, it looks like I wont be able to make this one either. Was looking forward to the first hand narration by Bert of the area. :Applause:  A call to the troops of EAA651 & Civil Air Patrol WI169  was made earlier this week. This Saturday KGRB is closing runway 6/24 to have a 5K walk/run to support the "Wounded Warriors Foundation". This past weekend even more was planned and we're now having a B-25 bomber, an Enstrom Helo & some of our chapter members are giving children rides in their own aircraft supporting EAA's Young Eagle program. More security & volunteers are needed and we are filling the void. Ya'all have a great flight!

Contrary to expectations I might be able to make this weekend's flight. I've got baby-sitting duty while my wife and her parents go to see a show in London on Saturday evening so as long as I can wrestle the Little Boy into bed by 1900Z I'll be good to go. Either that or I'm going to have a very noisy co-pilot here.....

Hope you can join us Nick.

Is it too early to start recruiting young Master Wood for the RTWR?

Recipe for uninterrupted "Use of the Computer" with a Little One nearby:

•One Bottle (w/ nipple) containing healthy juice or water

•One Large comfy pillow propped up near a TV

•Selection of favorite DVDs - such as Barney, Kid Songs, Thomas the Tank Engine, Winne the Pooh

•Mix well and enjoy (your time)

Btw... you sure the little Jr. cavalier duck won't have a *cough* cold or allergy that day?

Nite Time cold meds Regards,

:LMAO:

On a more mundane subject. This Saturday I shall be using RealAir's Marchetti SF260 avec black panel which, I have to say, is very becoming. Shout me if you want the same.

Ron, can we do this flight in daytime?

Suggest 1300 hours local time departure.

The weather forecast is for "Sunny Weather"

Bert
