We still have to wait for the new functionalities, but this is an update with some interesting new airports.

Most disappointing really.

Oliver flatters to deceive ... how long is it since he foreshadowed these practical enhancements to AES, the most expensive program in all of simming?

He refuses to support high quality freeware airports in Russia only because I guess only Russians or people interested in Russian aviation fly there. It is the same problem with many high quality nonpayware airports in eastern europe which is just dissapointing.

In FSX you're saved with GSX... In FS9 well... Some airports have programs that makes airstairs come to your aircraft.

Oliver is lazy, doesn't really give the program his time and is just sitting there really. He makes his money by configuring airports and only the ones he want, and would never release a tool for users to create airport configs as then he wouldn't get money from activating airports. Would be much better off if he sold this product to aerosoft as he doesn't really care about it.

I don't share Tushka's opinion about Oliver. As far as I understand, Oliver does FS add-on programming only as hobby beside his profession, and within his FS activities, AES is only one.

I rather think Aerosoft could spent some more capacity to support Oliver by personal or financial means. I think Aerosoft makes the money with AES, not Oliver at the first place.

The disinterest in Russian or commonly CIS airports may be caused by the fact that for many people here in the West this is a very strange and unknown region. Even here in Eastern Germany, where many people have visited the former Soviet Union - if I tell them that I spent my vacations in the Caucasus they wonder that I'm still alive at all. It could also be that it's not so easy to get into contact with many freeware developers or just the language barrier. And finally the customer interests - there are suggestions in the dedicated Aerosoft forum, but with the exception of the big Moscow airports there's little support for these (Rostov, Sochi, Almaty, Dushanbe, Tbilisi, not even Yerevan...). Meanwhile I wondering about the Xst version of London Heathrow where I never have flown so far, but users buy it and instantly want AES for it...

I agree with Appliance that this is a disappointing release. I have almost exhausted my credits on AES, and I will not be purchasing any more until there is some real advance in the features of the program itself (that were promised many many months ago).

Completely agree with you. People tend to forget that even the professional developers usually do something else for a living.

So please - and this is directed at Tushka right now - let's not make this personal, Oliver is most certainly not lazy, and the money he makes from AES is very much likely not enough for a living in Germany.

Florian

Nothing is personal, I shared my opinion, you shared yours. Things will always be different.

I'm just happy that at least for FSX there is alternatives when you fly to places pretty neglected by the main FS audience.

However, Tushka is right insofar as the batch of airports beginning with U*** is lamentably small in the AES support list.

But again, I don't see Oliver as the "problem" but the company Aerosoft instead somehow. Here

http://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/topic/82452-new-aes-version-this-month/

in post #11 M. Kok points towards Oliver but the sound of this post clearly shows Aerosofts attitude towards customers for some time now. I almost can't remember anymore when I bought my last Aerosoft product, including AES credits.

Well, even though this moderator wasn't exactly nice in this particular answer most other companies have much worse support and arrogance when it comes to the customer and his rights. I won't go into any names but some of them are quite famous in the industry.

Also on the thread I noticed many people getting dissapointed with the attitude of AES with slow developement times, false promises and a huge amount of airports not supported. Honestly if I didn't have the time to improve/update my product I would just sell it to someone else such as Aerosoft so that it will be improved in many ways possible. If I were him I would just release a tool for users to create their own airports and obviously that program will be costing something like 20-30 euros.

AES right now is incredibly expensive and I actually bought some serials but quickly gave up with the software as it is nice to have, but not supported in many areas where I fly. There's been a lot of discussion about it on Russian language forums and it's actually quickly being dropped over there in favor of alternate systems. I would understand if Pyongyang wasn't supported, but in fact popular big airports are not supported by AES and the waiting time is very long.

Is the money from AES enough for a living? Well... It is very expensive but when you count the niche userbase of FS not to mention most people pirate it... I would say no, he does have another job and develops AES in his freetime.

The above as me talking about FS9. Now I'm going to talk about FSX which has a very good alternative, GSX. As today unfortunately majority of users have moved on to FSX this userbase is also beginning to drop AES in favor of GSX. I believe it's only a matter of time that the complaints of AES aren't resolved as eastern people on FS9 drop it due to no support, while westerners of FSX begin to drop it due GSX has more features and is more active.

BTW - off-topic and without any expression of political preferences - do you know a good scenery for ZKPY, especially one with the new terminal? I only know the old scenery by Rudolf Liu (?).

Your scenario sounds bad but realistic, though. Nevertheless, obviously the new AES base program is in advanced testing and I hope it gets released soon.

Unfortunately there is not any new scenery for Pyongyang and we're lucky that there is one at all and in good quality. It's fun to fly there with Tu-134s and Tu-154s and in my opinion I like the old terminal more than the new.

I do not think we will see a new addon for Pyongyang for a long time mostly due to lack of information and lack of interest.

There's even problems making ZBAA (Beijing), despite the fact that this airport is actually in high demand.

Airports ICAO beginning with "Z" are even more neglected than CIS it appears like. I hope that the Asians will do something about it like in Russia.

I am sick of reading about this or that addon company NOT doing enough for flight simmers. NOBODY is ENTITLED to anything new or updated from these companies. It is probably unique in the gaming industry that anyone IS still producing addons for a sim which is 11 years old. Also, it depends on how the airport has been created as to whether AES can be added at all, and that's why there are hundreds of "neglected" airports, both freeware and payware. Just visit the AES forum if you want to request an airport - "lazy" Oliver will check it out and tell you if it's possible or not, as he has already done for hundreds of others.

Even when new enhancements/functionalities were "promised" many moons ago, yet  ..... well, .........you know the rest.

Luckily, I was not sick nor tired enough to respond to your post ........ for now.

Yes! None of the complainers are aware of the technical issues involved in creating whatever new or updated addon they demand, because they have never attempted to create their own - it's like this with modding FS - to quote from Substitute by The Who - "The simple things you see are all complicated"

I hope you quickly recover from your sickness, then.
