November 5, 201411 yr Nice find tf51d! Yeppers... yanked that antenna right off.. It's always a good idea to walk the field before crossing the pacific ocean! On a side note... the flight was snake bit from the start. She crashed in Hawaii.. Changed the direction around the globe... was having problems getting off the ground with all that fuel at just about every field.. Had funding problems... All the signs were there to wait it out, secure funding, better rig the plane, and a slew of just about everything else. Funny now.. with fuel blatters, anyone can make that trip these days without a care in just about any GA prop plane... The antennas on the roof getting info from eyes in space. If she was alive today, something like that would have seem like magic.
November 5, 201411 yr Sorry to bring this a bit off topic, but this thread just got me thinking again about flight MH370 It's one thing for an electra to go missing back in the day, but how can a Boeing 777 just disappear off the face of the Earth without a trace? If it crashed in the ocean, I'm sure a seat cushion, luggage or something would have washed up on a beach by now. Floyd Stolle www.stollco.com
November 5, 201411 yr Moderator That may well have happened, but bear in mind that there is a whole LOT of deserted and inaccessible "beach" around the Pacific basin. Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
November 6, 201411 yr Everything is found eventually. Unless it flew out to space, it's all still here. Just a matter of time. It's pretty easy to get tunnel vision and apply that state of mind to an entire planet. This one is rather large.
November 7, 201411 yr If it crashed in the ocean, I'm sure a seat cushion, luggage or something would have washed up on a beach by now."By now" - not necessarily, "eventually" quite likely.Unfortunately many such items may no longer be recognizable as coming from this 777 or any other 777 or even connected with an aircraft. Also at this very moment there could be already debris that washed up on some beach that was either out of reach of human eye or a human spotted it but did not find it interesting. Michael J.
