December 4, 201411 yr Make sure you are logged in as administrator and have UAC off. Anyone with a default Windows account and UAC on should be able to edit the file. What he needs to do is look at the file permissions and the priviliges of his account. John Miles

December 5, 201411 yr Problem still persist when I try to modify FSX.cfg in properties it says I do not have permission to modify permissions. And when I try to set the folder off read only I get an error saying you do not have permission to modify the fsx.cfg file That indicates that you have somehow lost administrator control of your system. If you have multiple user profiles, ONE, or more, of them should be an administrator level user with all permissions.

December 5, 201411 yr I just read their Install Read-Me files and none of them mention that. Or was this to solve a specific problem with a specific customer? here is another example the 737 ngx introduction manual page 11 says to make sure you run fsx as admin I7-8700k,Corsair h1101 cooler ,Asus Strix Gaming Intel Z370 S11 motherboard, Corsair 32gb ramDD4,, gtx 1080ti Card, RM850 power supply Peter kelberg
December 5, 201411 yr Commercial Member That's as maybe, but with a professional installation of FSX, FSX is installed to defaults, and the Write and Modify permissions are added to the Users Group on the FSX program files folder, *before* any addons are installed. This way the Run as Admin is avoided. There are a couple of addons of old that access the admin part of the registry and must be run as admin, but nothing from PMDG is like that, or any modern addons I can think of.more about perissions here Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
January 22, 201511 yr OKay I am having the same problem. I'm not trying to modify the fsx.cfg file. I just can't get in. I reinstalled fsx to no avail and then I installed fsx (Acceleration pack) to see if it would help. No cigar. I will check permissions in UAC
