If you are having trouble with FSX:SE install:

Recommended Posts

i just installed both the 200LR and 300 using the very latest PMDG installers (downloaded at 0800 EST, 25 Jan) on a FSX-SE only (no prior FSX) system. Both installed and activated just fine - no issues at all.

I then installed the Delta and FedEx liveries for the 200LR and 200LRF, and the American livery for the 300, using the ops center, and that worked perfectly as well. Now, time to go flying!

Edit: May have spoken too soon... it looks like the -300ER expansion isn't installing now. I'm using the latest installer downloaded this morning.

Here's a screenshot of the install error I'm getting.

Try this:

It worked for me, however somebody else tried it and said it did not work for them.

I'm back to report success on my dual version setup.

Having downloaded the installers last evening (5pm UK time) I re-downloaded today at 1pm UK time. I've learned two things.

1.  When you first run the new installer it will offer the options of repair or remove. If you try repair it will tell you it can't and you should uninstall, so you may as well do that straight away.

2.  When you re-run the installer after the uninstall it will come up with both versions listed and each will be pre-selected. Don't do what I first did, thinking it wouldn't install both together I de-selected SE. That put me back to square one. So click 'next' to install both. It will first install the MS version and then, while the blue progress strip is showing maximum it will install SE.

On my rig, it is well worth it. I placed the 777 at a gate at UK2000's Heathrow Xtreme airport and each version had exactly the same setup - same time of day, same weather, same traffic level, etc. In the MS version, inside the cockpit I was getting 20 to 23 fps. In the SE version this rose to 28 to 31 fps.

I accept this is not a complete nor very demanding test and I accept that other's rigs may not perform the same. I haven't got time to do a flight today but this is a hopeful indication.

Anyway, I tell you all this for what it's worth.

Dear PMDG TEAM,

So after this 2 days of update my 777 is not working, and i'm telling me that fly with FSX SE is or not a good idea....

My problem was already mentioned previously

Win 7 on SSD

FSX SE on HDD 1To

Fresh Install of course, Computer has been formated.

When i run your latest installer, i can't choose between FSX or FSX SE, BUT the aircraft is going to be install well into fsx se.

When i run FSX SE and launch 777, i can't activate the product of course and the aricraft is non fly...able...

Could you please help me thanks

The problem is not you but me, thanks

You wrote that you cannot activate product... that could be a very different problem than the topic of this thread, which is Installer problems.

Be sure you copy and paste the activation key from your order confirmation email into the dialog box requesting the key, not order number but the confirmation key.

If activation fails then maybe you have a firewall blocking the communication.  Instead of posting this problem here you should open a trouble ticket at PMDG Product Support.

I currently own FSX boxed, and FSX SE. Running on same drive. Both run just fine. Downloaded newest full versions of 777. Installation seems to have been ok.  Started up FSX SE, no 777. FSX boxed still looks good.  If someone has a sound solution, great, otherwise,I just continue with boxed version and wait for awhile on SE.  I am in no hurry to delete my current setup.  Have another thirteen programs to be updated to SE.  Thanks.

Situation 3:

New Win8.1x64 build (just a few days ago). Installed FSX:SE through Steam, everything worked well. Downloaded new 777 installer, installed with no issue. Asked to allow the DLLs etc on launch of FSX. Launched trike flight. Changed to 777. Asked to run 1 more DLL and then aircraft loaded. Completely dark cockpit, throttles maxed, yoke stuck on full left aileron, no landing gear, no engine fans etc.

Happy to run through your support tool again if needed (used it with Ryan before).

Edit (further details): FSX:SE is installed in default Steam location.

UAC is disabled

Only other add-on is FSUIPC and the throttle axis is calibrated through it.

Identical problem for me.  At a complete loss.  Any ideas?

Also, never got a prompt to enter product key.

Situation 2. 777 installed on FSX, now trying to install on FSX:SE. Installer only shows Repair and Remove. Repair function is INOP.

FSX:SE is installed in a library on an external SSD. FSX box is installed on the same SSD. I am using the 777 installer using the download link on my order page, last accessed on 25 Jan 2015. OS is Win8.1x64

Repair function is INOP.

This much is intentional. Not sure about the rest.
