February 3, 201511 yr I installed addon scenery for an airport, and there are black areas on the ground in various shapes. I have other versions of this airport in the Scenery Library, but I only select one at a time. The author thinks my other versions of this airport are causing interference and creating the black areas. Any ideas how to fix this?
February 3, 201511 yr The other versions should not load if not enabled. The other versions may appear if you are using the Addon Scenery folder and not setting up individual folders for each airport. Some payware developers use the black areas to appear until the product is registered. Some pirates publish fsx payware addons as freeware. Another reason for the black areas is missing effects/objects. Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! February 3, 201511 yr Author This is legitimate scenery, and I have discussed with the author. I have uploaded screenshots in my post here. Any thoughts? http://www.simforums.com/forums/addon-scenery-has-black-areas-trees_topic51510.html
February 3, 201511 yr Administrators I'm done trying to guess what airport and whose addon scenery you are tying to show. Your shots look nothing like KRSW or KFMY with the available addon scenery for that area. How about some more info. It is very accurate - if I could only solve the black areas and extra trees.
February 3, 201511 yr Administrators I just installed this addon for KRSW. I also deleted the one that Scruffduck did a few years ago, so I only have this one addon for KRSW. I took a look around the airport and saw no black areas or trees in the concrete. I would definitely delete any other addons for this airport and try it again. It appears you have the same black areas I circled in my screenshots above, but you have no trees. They appear to be autogen coming thru the ramp. The black areas must be missing textures in the scenery design install file.
February 3, 201511 yr The black areas must be missing textures in the scenery design install file. That would be my guess as well. As far as the trees, that could be caused by just about any addon. I had this exact problem just the other day at Courtenay (Smit Field) Airport, (CCS6) on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. The offending addon was UTX Tropical America and Caribbean which isn't even close to where I had a problem! Fortunately a disable/enable of UTX TAC got things looking right again. Mike Mann
February 3, 201511 yr The black areas are missing texture files. Contact the author and tell him he needs to include in his download the textures he used for his ground polys. As for the trees, his airport background poly needs to be expanded to cover that ramp area. He probably does not see trees because he is either using different ground textures (and their autogen files) or different landclass, or both. regards, Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
February 3, 201511 yr As for the trees, his airport background poly needs to be expanded to cover that ramp area. In the case I had at Courtenay (Smit Field) Airport (which was in the FTX PNW Region where Orbx definitely had an airport background poly), the only way I could eliminate the wayward trees was by finding the offending addon (in this case UTX TAC). This is also a common problem with people running FTX Global and GEX with their autogen forest fix enabled. Mike Mann

Well yeah, you start running multiple region specific addons at the same time and have them all enabled, you will have anomalies like this show up. The answer is to turn off the region(s) you are not flying in. [edit] Sorry Mike, I had missed your post #8 where you said the exact same thing. We must have cross-posted. As for the ground poly textures, if you have the latest version of ADE you have those textures in C:\MSFS\FS Design Tools\Airport Design Editor 165\Textures Just copy all of the textures in that folder and past them in ...\FSX\Texture and you should be good to go. BTW, you could also fix the airport background poly with ADE too. regards, Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.

February 3, 201511 yr Author I will try pasting those textures in. Could you possibly fix the airport poly, or would the author have to do it? I have 3 Textures folders in ADE: Textures_Base_Mipped, Textures_Base_NonMipped, and Textures_Dpy_Base. All 3 have the same file names in them. Not knowing which ones to use, I tried the ones in the Dpy_Base folder. This did not fix the black areas. Can you help?

The textures in Textures_Dpy_Base are the wrong format and are used in ADE only. regards, Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
