Any thing important to know before I install ? I have the disk version still installed.

I had absolutely NO plans to go to FSX SE but with that price I can't pass. Thanks for sharing.

 

Unfortunately FSX needs uninstalled including the days work of installs for scenery and planes that go with it right?

Yep, just grabbed a copy myself - couldn't resist $5.59 CDN (that's $4.47 USD at today's exchange rate - about the same price as a Grande Latte ). Planning to wait until the beta dust settles before installing Steam and FSX:SE - that's okay right?

Was very annoyed when I missed the initial sale this winter, so this is great news to me. Was going to re-install FSX anyway, so why not do it instead with a ;new' platform that may perform better? Worst case scenario I get the same performance and I'm out the price of a Venti latte. Thanks steam/dtg!

Best is to completely uninstall and remove any traces of your old FSX.

When that's done, also remove the registry entry for FSX, you'll find that in:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE - SOFTWARE - WOW6432Node - Microsoft - Microsoft Games - Flight Simulator

Remove the 10.0 entry and you should be good to go.

 

[edit] That 10.0 entry I also found under HKEY_CURRENT_USER + same path , so better check that as well.
