PMDG 737 owner: buy Level-D 767 yes or no?

Featured Replies

Last year I've had a lot of fun with the PMDG 737 (800). After a few months of not flying at all, I bought the DF Beech A36 ('and now for something completely different!') and had lots of fun again. But... the big ones keep calling me... When I read the reviews of the Level-D 767 I think: I gotta have that one! But I wonder... is it any good spending money on it when I already got the PMDG 737...? Don't they look and act the same a lot...? Is the 767 indeed a lot more detailed or not (the panels, I don't care for exteriors AT ALL)? Does it have a lot more working functions? Also, will my 737 knowledge help me or is the opposite true and do I have to get rid of a lot of habits? And (after flying in the A36 VC ONLY) is it completely flyable from withing the VC? Do ALL buttons work just as on the 2D-panel?A lot of question... I hope a lot of answers will follow! :)

I'd definately recommend it. It is a great aircraft and fully flyable from the VC as long as you have a good computer to run it. It has a few bugs still but so did the PMDG aircraft until a few patches down the line. Awesome panels and VC, great sounds and extras. Definately worth the money, and with Flight1 you can get your money back if you don't like it!

I can't say that I recommend the LDS 767. There are serious issues that were not addressed by the developers before release and they have become quite an annoyance. Here are the issues that I have found so far:1 - Total loss of investment in my other payware aircraft since I only fly the LDS 767 now.2 - Severe lack of sleep due to regular long haul flights.3 - Severe pain in Jaw from dropping Jaw on every flight.4 - Electricution from drool entering electrified computer parts.5 - Threat of, and eventual divorce from spending more time with the LDS 767 than wife. (still unsure if this is a problem or benefit)6 - Bankruptcy and eventual financial ruin due to refusal to leave the LDS 767 and go to work.7 - Facial muscle damage due to stupid-looking permanent grin on face.8 - Constant embarrassment from getting caught in the lie that I am a real life 767 Captain for United Airlines9 - Difficulty urinating because of refusal to be away from the LDS for more than 5 seconds at a time 10 - Loss of memory from spending more time with LDS 767 than own children thus forgetting their names and birthdays. So, there you go! The LDS team has already said that they plan no fixes for the problems that I listed above so if you DO purchase it, do so at your own risk and don't say that you weren't warned. BUYER BEWARE!!!! Okay, back to my LDS 767 now.Take care,Mike T.

Absolutely YES !!Love it (and my PMDG too)

best post ever :-)

Another absolute yes here! I was pleasantly surprised to find that on my system at least, it is smoother then the PMDG 737.Edit to add this: but I still love the PMDG as well!!

Well.... I get the idea the Level-D 767 is worth the money... ;)That BUYER BEWARE post was very funny indeed! When I started reading I REALLY thought 'O no, here it goes...' until I read the first 'problem'... ;)

To me, its apples to oranges. The LDS is a must have. I love my pmdg, but when the lds came, i had to have it. Its really a must have. I still fly the PMDG as much as the LDS. The transistion from one to the other is a breaze. Id highly reccomend it.

Go for it. Take the plunge, it's a nice one ;)

Far be it for me to dissagree with all these people. I bought it (the LDS767) from the first day it came out and now only fly it, and the PMDG737 for my airliner flights. And my GA flights are becoming more and more infrequent (though their are some fantastic ones out there).

The question must not be whether to buy the LDS767 or not but how fast can you throw out your credit card and place an order!Andreas

YES!

For me Level D is BETTER than PMDG...!

Well, this does it... Now I HAVE to have the Level-D 767! Darn... I just payed off all the debts on my credit card and here we go again... Will it ever stop...? ;)Do you know what really triggered me to ask you all here about the Level-D 767? The manual and the tutorials! I'm a manual nut: I just LOVE to read them from cover to cover (after printing and binding them!). I downloaded the manual and the 3 official tutorial and they blew me away! The detail in those tutorials is awesome! Every step is explained in great detail: perfect! I really missed that with the PMDG. Metzingers tutorial was great, but not as good as these: I like the step by step method (in this case anyway) because you REALLY get the idea you are doing things EXACTLY like the pilots do IRL. For the PMDG I flet forced to make my own extended checklists and still had a lot of questions if I was doing things right...Apart from that: the fact that you can save a flight in mid-air and return to it with the FMC still working looks awesome to me: just what I always wanted, because I seldom have more than an hour or so to fly... :'( . That's why I always used the PMDG for Airbus-like city hops... ;) And it's great to read fps is good too, so... I'm off to the virtual shop! ;)
