The burden of work is on the weather developer. The weather developer needs to simulate the ability for us to pull 3D weather data. If another developer approached us with that capability, then I'm sure we'd consider it. As it stands, HiFi is the only one to do this. Kyle Rodgers

Well, it seems like Aerosoft's new Airbus series (318, 319, 320, 321) all have wxr's that are fully compatible with Opus, Rex, and Active Sky. You guys should consider figuring out how they did it so we can all enjoy the wxr! -Tim Wittenstein "Feathers shall raise men even as they do birds towards heaven; that is by letters written with their quills." — Leonardo da Vinci

It is the only one that does this, currently. Until other developers do this, only ASN can provide actual weather radar. There is a vast misunderstanding in this community about what weather radar actually does, and how the developers are actually attempting to implement the feature. Some of this misunderstanding is perpetuated by the add-on developers themselves, sadly. Kyle Rodgers

It does not read weather directly from the weather engine. The PMDG/ASN interface is far superior. DJ
March 31, 201511 yr The 'Bus reads weather from the sim in the same way that the WXR500 gauge from RXP does. It does not read weather directly from the weather engine. The PMDG/ASN interface is far superior. DJ Thats simply not true.... The Aerosoft Airbuses does very much the same with their weather radar as the PMDG 737 and 777 does. The same is true with the iFly 737's. ASN is not the only weather engine that can supply 3D weather (or actual position of precipitation). FS Global Real Weather f.ex is actual also capable of doing so. But the Aerosoft Airbus weather radar can use any weather engine to show actual precipitation positions. Infact the Aerosoft weather radar is made to work as a real radar, even showing ground returns and can be used in ground mapping mode, something the PMDG weather radar can´t, which btw simply uses the ASN weather radar overlay, as far as I know. Just like the PMDG weather radar, You can go precipitation hunting with the Aerosoft Airbusses. With the Airbusses You can also do island hunting using MAP mode, something You cannot with the PMDG weather radar. So while the newer weather radars we have seen recently are a big step forward towards realism and now also used in the PMDG 737 NGG and 777, the PMDG weather radar's are not necesary the ones with most features or realism.
