March 31, 201511 yr Thanks for sharing. I made a git on bitbucket for those that might want to just download the tweaked files instead of hunting through the lines: https://bitbucket.org/pnirattisai/p3d-hdr-tweaks Feel free to edit them. For me, the nights look great but I'm still tweaking it for a brighter daytime. I'm sure it's because I'm using the HDE skytextures which are darker than the default. Thanks bro ! Carsten U
March 31, 201511 yr Thanks - much easier just loading up the tweaked files - maybe a good idea would be a web page that has different ones to try (community created versions) Rich Sennett
March 31, 201511 yr Thanks - much easier just loading up the tweaked files - maybe a good idea would be a web page that has different ones to try (community created versions) Sure. That can easily be done if they post their settings here, then I can simply upload it to the same place. People can even compare the file differences.
March 31, 201511 yr Author Hey guys glad the tweaks are working for many of you. By the way those files are under copyright from LM so not sure if distributing them is the greatest idea, although I agree it would make things easier. Also some of you are having trouble getting the daytime to be bright enough, is this only in the external view, or is it too dark in the cockpit as well? If its ok in the vc view you may need to tone down the aggressiveness of the hdr using the difference multiplier or perhaps add in more bloom. In the external view the sim thinks things are much brighter and may render things too dark if the hdr is too aggressive. It is also possible that using an extreme value for avg luminace may darken things so much that you cannot brighten them properly, try to use the lowest number possible and make sure you test night brightness on 2/18/15 so there is no moon. March 31, 201511 yr I downloaded the zip,and have overwritten the 2 files, deleted the shaders folder, why do I still see clouds at night? http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w205/B1900Mech/Lockheed%20P3D/Issues/2015-3-31_16-54-45-898.png Jim Driscoll, MSI Raider GE76 12UHS-607 17.3" Gaming Laptop Computer - Blue Intel Core i9 12th Gen 12900HK 1.8GHz Processor; NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 16GB GDDR6; 64GB DDR5-4800 RAM; Dual M2 2TB Solid State Drives.Driving a Sony KD-50X75, and KDL-48R470B @ 4k 3724x2094,MSFS 2020, 30 FPS on Ultra Settings. March 31, 201511 yr Here's my own tweaks with HDE v2 skies and clouds. I'm liking the brightness/glare from the clouds.
March 31, 201511 yr Hey guys glad the tweaks are working for many of you. Mike yo have done an amazing job but night is to dark I like the brighter nights what do I change to that - I know there is this // but using your settings want to hear from you what I should do - great stuff - thank you Rich Sennett
March 31, 201511 yr Mike yo have done an amazing job but night is to dark I like the brighter nights what do I change to that - I know there is this // but using your settings want to hear from you what I should do - great stuff - thank you As he said in the first post, the value he gave of 1.20 for night is just a starting point. You'll have to adjust it to fit your monitor. In this case, try changing the avgLuminance *= 1.20f; to something like avgLuminance *= 1.40f; or even 1.60f this is on line 166 by the way. EDIT: Oops doing this (increasing the value) will make the night darker. Someone above asked for a dark night. Doing the opposite makes it lighter. Edited March 31, 201511 yr by willywonka

A higher avg luminance value will darken nighttime. April 1, 201511 yr Author Why are clouds still bright? If you have calibrated your monitor and are testing on the date 2/18/15 as outlined in the first post your avg luminance value on line 166 is set too low.
