Back for just a sec, and at the risk of once again discussing particular engines.

I actually made two errors. The first was not realizing any fundamental difference between Unigine and Unigine sim, and the second; confusing Unigine slightly with some developers updates I had been looking at from The UE4 team discussing coordinate systems and tiling issues in very large worlds.

fshobbys post of Mr Taylor's remarks still reflect some valid concerns however, wherever they are ultimately addressed, I believe.

Out again.

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

Meanwhile back on the farm...

Kingson (our new admin) and I have been pretty busy over the last several hours getting things moved over to the new server. We're getting rid of the bulk and adding the new Forum and I've gotta tell you access to the new site is fast! Once we've got it finished, early next week, I'll announce it here on AVSIM.

Meanwhile the old site is still accessible and you can add to the forum if you'd like. We'll move all post over to the new forum.

Cheers,

Stephen B.

Thanks. I'm glad to hear it.  I find the website layout quite dense..and ultra-slow. Trying to access the forums is like using Yahoo Mail during peak times, i.e. virtually unusable.

Best.

The new NGFS Forum... is really it's own entity... The NGFS SIM-Posium portal... will still provide all of the information, to include articles, news, etc. etc. and the NGFS Forum will be a place where you can immediately jump into bypassing the portal and going straight to the forums... which will be slimmed down considerably.

Just a progress report regarding the NGFS SIM-Posium move to a new server.

We're just about there! Only a few more things to tidy up and then we'll be in "black out" for a few hours as we move the domain name over to the new server. Once that is completed I'll start a new Topic here on AVSIM announcing the move. This will be done with the kind permission of Jim "firehawk44" - "Once the topic you have posted in the Hangar Chat has run its course in your eyes, you can start another topic with updated information..."

Because of the format of the new forum not all threads were moved over as I had hoped, particularly the "Introduce Yourselves" as well as some of the others. When the move is finally completed it will be almost like starting afresh.

What matters most is that things are much faster, and (fingers crossed) crash free.

Thanks to all of you... and I'll see you soon on the new and improved NGFS SIM-Posium.

Cheers,

Stephen B.

NEW UPDATE:

We took the time to manually move all posts over... the only thing you'll need to do is update your Avatars once we open up the new site...

That's what happens when you have a real live Systems Admin on board... they know how to figure things out!
