Water in P3D

Featured Replies

We are talking about how the water looks above 1000 feet, Steve. I don't think that many of us have a problem seeing the ripples with the ULTRA setting, or the 3D waves at sea level.

trying to see because the water in this new version of P3D did not move I found missing WaterConstants, I put one of FSX and worked as he did in previous versions. I hope you serve.
Greetings to all

The OP said the water didn't move, I never saw anyone mention how it looks over 1k feet?  I was only posting a suggestion to check if he was getting water movement/3D waves etc...Ultra must be on to see the swells

Hi Steve.

I don't believe anyone was "blaming" you.. We are just clarifying what is missing. is all

Yeah..the swells are nice on a windy day  when we are flying these sea planes or fly GA very low.

But when flying airliners at 3000 feet or 10 feet and when there is no sun reflections, the water is like a jpg screenshot stuck there. the tiny waves do not gleam like it does when there is sun light. In FSX, there used to be these white crest (waves from far) appear and disappear...each one of them making the entire ocean alive from 4000 feet and above.

Remember when we went from the dead FS9 oceans to the animated gorgeous FSX water. Now in P3D, we have taken a couple of steps back in this "water" front! Surprising DX11 doesn't have the DX10 equivalent feature.

IF and when LM fixes either this water animation (from an altitude)  or the OOM issues, I will blow P3D 2.3 version and move to v2.5 :)

Sad to agree that the water looks "meh" when higher than about 1,000ft

I wonder if a thread in the REX forums would lead to anything...? Tim and his team got the sea foam working at low levels; can't see why they can't get the wave action working up higher...

The latest SP3 build for REX Essential Plus (and SP2 update for REX4) are supposed to include animated wave effects at higher altitudes, but I don't see anything on my PC. The last suggestion was to reinstall P3D, but I would need some pretty convincing evidence to even think about going down that route.
