I for one will not buy from the companies mentioned until this issue is resolved. I'll take my diddly-squat elsewhere.I spend a lot of diddly-squat each month on this great hobby. I know because my wife keeps reminding me that $300+ last month is a bit too much diddly-squat.How's that!Regards,

Well, this thread must get a lot of attention....Within 5 minites from my statement that I had NO REPLY from Simmarket, I received this update on my TroubleTicket from Simmarket""dear rob,we have removed this product from sales until the developer clarifies the situation.rgds, Marty - Support""Thank you, Simmarket ..Regards, ROb

Well, It appears to me that others have responsibilities here as well.If a company distibutes or sells other products from a company that steals work, they should be held accountable too by not agreeing to carry their products.DSB lists their statemet as their copyright work. For them to quote some agreement seems like an attempt to distance responsibility for their actions here, in my opinion, and is unjust. So any site that still sells ANY DSB stuff should be boycotted as well in my opinion. In addition, consumers should contact those sites and tell them they may not be buying from them, if that is their own personal feelings towards this.Regards,Joeaopa.gif" border="0" alt="Grab My FREEWARE Voice recognition Profiles here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=58334]Cessna 172 Voice Profile[/a][a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=60740]FSD Avanti Voice Profile[/a].You will need the main FREEWARE Flight Assistant program to use it, get it here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=genutils&DLID=39661]Flight Assistant 2.2[/a]

and there is essentially diddly-squat that you can do about it except vent in these lengthy and useless threads? :-) Dan

I e-mailed Miguel at Simmarket about this thread about a half hour ago. He just wrote me back and said he pulled the file, and has e-mailed Rob and DSB concerning the same.Rob, this is one reason why I HATE XML. It is open source, and you are lucky that nothing was changed in your code. Thus, you have a chance of proving piracy. A sharp programmer could have made changes to your code that would have accomplished the same goal; perhaps spent just an hour doing it, and you would never know it was your original code, or at least could never really prove it.That's why we stick with C++ where ever we can, and when we do use XML (very rarely) it's with a gauge we don't care much about. Now, back to work for me, and good luck! :-)Regards,http://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...R_FORUM_LOU.jpg

Not good enough Rob, they should remove ALL DSB products. In my opinion the only way to address this is for DSB to own up, address it, and in the meantime, SimMarket should do the right thing and remove ALL DSB Products, not just this one. It's DSB who claims copyright, it is DSB who it appears may attempt to distance itself form its own product. They should have done their own Due Diligence, and if they had inadequate compliance in this product, I would question others as well.SimMarket has a chance to make a good decision here, and do the right thing by removing all of DSB's Products until this is resolved. By not doing so, says to me at least, that they are only interested in the almighty dollar, and not the community in my opinion. It's their choice, but I think the community is looking for leadership here, not single selection of only certain ethical choices here.Regards,Joeaopa.gif" border="0" alt="Grab My FREEWARE Voice recognition Profiles here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=58334]Cessna 172 Voice Profile[/a][a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=60740]FSD Avanti Voice Profile[/a].You will need the main FREEWARE Flight Assistant program to use it, get it here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=genutils&DLID=39661]Flight Assistant 2.2[/a]

I have news for you... If we (AVSIM) and other sites determine that this indeed is a rip off of Rob, you can bet that this is not going to continue to happen. If DSB is put in the category of PT and others, then you can be sure that it isn't going to go on, at least with this company.

>Yes, usually you use a sofisticated piece of software to>create XML gauges: It's called notepad.ROFL! ROFL! ROFL! (not to mention Rob has a "style" to his coding as well)

Pulling the file does little.Ethics are important here.SimMarket should take a Leadership position here, respect the community and pull all of DSB's Product.Pulling only the one product does little to ensure that DSB does the right thing.DSB is the Company who states on their site they hold the copyright to this product. In my opinion, it is their due diligence and compliance that is suspect here.SimMarket has a responsibility to the community to do the right thing, and should pull all of DSB's products until this is resolved. If it chooses not to, that is their choice as well, but the community also has a choice on whom they choose to business with and why.Let's see who has the integrity in this issue as it evolves and who does not!Regards,Sonar5aopa.gif" border="0" alt="Grab My FREEWARE Voice recognition Profiles here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=58334]Cessna 172 Voice Profile[/a][a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=60740]FSD Avanti Voice Profile[/a].You will need the main FREEWARE Flight Assistant program to use it, get it here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=genutils&DLID=39661]Flight Assistant 2.2[/a]

To all that responded so far:Thank you all (with a few exceptions) for your support.Although I had hoped a few more real Harrier owners would have come forward to confirm my statements; but I'm probably a bit too impatient here, since this thread is only 6 hours old :-)Also thank you for keeping this thread to-the-point, and civilised sofar. There have been worse examples :-)One remark to 'Edam':""...except vent in these lengthy and useless threads?"" Well, I happen to disagree with you. But then again, I'm biassed. And support, like I'm getting here, IS important to ME; if only to keep ME motivated to continue my freeware designs.Which makes me wonder (no disrespect intended): if you feel this way, why bother to react at all ??Best Regards, Rob

Rob, have you posted this elsewhere, like sim-outhouse, which has a lot of warbird fans, and the flightsim place? Not sure if the latter would allow it though.aopa.gif" border="0" alt="Grab My FREEWARE Voice recognition Profiles here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=58334]Cessna 172 Voice Profile[/a][a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=60740]FSD Avanti Voice Profile[/a].You will need the main FREEWARE Flight Assistant program to use it, get it here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=genutils&DLID=39661]Flight Assistant 2.2[/a]

Hi Lou,Thanks for doing that.""Rob, this is one reason why I HATE XML. It is open source, and you are lucky that nothing was changed in your code. Thus, you have a chance of proving piracy. "" Yes, I must agree with you about this aspect of .xml.Which is why I would probably never use it if a was making gauges for a living, instead of (almost all) freeware. On the other hand, THIS time it's helping me :-)Because EVERY owner of the aircraft now can simply verify my claim by using Notepad :-)""A sharp programmer could have made changes to your code that would have accomplished the same goal""Which says a lot about the person that just copied it, doesn't it :-( ??Cheers, Rob

>Rob, have you posted this elsewhere, like sim-outhouse, which>has a lot of warbird fans, and the flightsim place? Not sure>if the latter would allow it though.I've already posted a link to this thread on Sim Outhouse, a regular hangout of mine.

Even beter, thanks for doing that. :-)Regards,Joeaopa.gif" border="0" alt="Grab My FREEWARE Voice recognition Profiles here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=58334]Cessna 172 Voice Profile[/a][a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=60740]FSD Avanti Voice Profile[/a].You will need the main FREEWARE Flight Assistant program to use it, get it here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=genutils&DLID=39661]Flight Assistant 2.2[/a]

>A sharp programmer could have made changes to your code that>would have accomplished the same goal>"">Which says a lot about the person that just copied it, doesn't>it :-( ??ROFL!!! I'm in complete support Rob. You've given too much to the FS community both directly (i.e. helping me and others) and indirectly (You help someone learn how to make a gauge that works and it ends up in a plane on others' hardrives, etc, etc.) for the community to let this stand.P.S. I think I responded to this thread, in another one... speaking of "saying alot" about me! *grin* (wish I remember which thread I was looking at, but my response there is going to seem like it's from left field!)
