July 15, 201510 yr I'm going to reinstall UTX/GEX with FTX/FTXV full install and I'd like to start with clean terrain.cfg. Are there any options to recreate one? July 15, 201510 yr What happens when you simply delet it (after backup)? Maybe P3D rebuilds it Harry - Harry 9800x3D (Strix x870e-E) - 64GB RAM (DDR5 6000, CL 30) - RTX 5090, 34'' 1440p OLED HDR - Windows 11 Pro (1TB M.2) - MSFS 2024 (MS Store, 4TB M.2).
July 15, 201510 yr If you PM me your mail address I can send you my P3Dv2.5 terrain.cfg clean install backup copy. cheers, Henk.
July 15, 201510 yr Author If you PM me your mail address I can send you my P3Dv2.5 terrain.cfg clean install backup copy. cheers, Henk. Thanks Henk, but since my FS2004 times I have learned in a hard way that FlightSIm fundamental cfg files (scenery, terrain, effects etc) should be generated internally without any external intrusions.Even an additional empty single line could create a potential issue. What happens when you simply delet it (after backup)? Maybe P3D rebuilds it Kinda risky business, but I'll try :-) 9950X3D, X870E ROG CROSSHAIR HERO, Corsair Dominator Titanium 64GB DDR5-6000 PC5-48000, ASUS RTX 5070Ti 16GB, 9100 PRO 4TB Samsung ,990 PRO 4TB Samsung, AX1600i 1600 Watt 80 Plus Titanium ATX, ASUS 360 ARGB EXTREME 360mm Liquid CPU Cooling Kit.
July 15, 201510 yr Kinda risky business, but I'll try :-) Please let me know too. I hate the fact that all these "addons" (it is few of them) modify this critical file, and if anything happens to it - the whole sim goes down the drain. If P3D rebuilds itself - that would be awesome. Looking forward on seeing your results. If P3D rebuilds itself - that would be awesome. Looking forward on seeing your results. The only REAL issue is with "terrain.cfg". P3D will recreate brand new scenery.cfg without a problem though you would need to reinstall all of your add-ones from the scratch. 9950X3D, X870E ROG CROSSHAIR HERO, Corsair Dominator Titanium 64GB DDR5-6000 PC5-48000, ASUS RTX 5070Ti 16GB, 9100 PRO 4TB Samsung ,990 PRO 4TB Samsung, AX1600i 1600 Watt 80 Plus Titanium ATX, ASUS 360 ARGB EXTREME 360mm Liquid CPU Cooling Kit.
July 15, 201510 yr Scenery Config Editor does makes backup of scenery.cfg - and this file is easy to modify. It is the terrain file that I am always worried about. I always make backup of that file, and I hate the extra work. I figured this is why LM moved the terrain file location to reduce modification to the file, but almost critical addons depend on this 1 file. January 13, 20179 yr Author Folks, Unfortunately have to revisit this topic again. Is there any way to restore default terrain.cfg for v.3.4 by reinstalling on the components (Client, Scenery or Conent) Thanks 9950X3D, X870E ROG CROSSHAIR HERO, Corsair Dominator Titanium 64GB DDR5-6000 PC5-48000, ASUS RTX 5070Ti 16GB, 9100 PRO 4TB Samsung ,990 PRO 4TB Samsung, AX1600i 1600 Watt 80 Plus Titanium ATX, ASUS 360 ARGB EXTREME 360mm Liquid CPU Cooling Kit.
January 13, 20179 yr Any missing .cfg file in C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3 will be recreated "PRISTINE" by P3D (any version) , this means if you had addons they will not be there anymore , or in the case of terrain.cfg they will be a mess... If you plan to delete one I suggest you make a backup or just simply rename it.. Jorge
