August 7, 201510 yr Author No problem, Jorge. I made the switch from FSX to P3D last August, so welcome to the party! I assume that you have P3D installed now, and that it runs a lot better than FSX did? Have you installed all of your addons yet? Thank you very much, I have not installed the add-ons yet since I have a 1 month subscription only, I will wait for the subscription to expire and then buy the other one, besides I have no add-on aircrafts for P3D, only scenery add-ons, I am thinking about buying the A2A C172 for P3D, I really like that aircraft. Regards. Jorge Andres Brito Lozano
August 7, 201510 yr I respect your opinion Rob, but that was not the case. You lost me, did I mis-understand your post here? but I don't really know since I built a PC especifically for FSX and I am not getting the performace I expected I'd sort out your FSX performance first before using P3D. Cheers, Rob.
August 7, 201510 yr Not to rain on your parade, but you told us that FSX ran pefectly with simple airplanes and simple airports on your system. But you wanted it to run just as well with all your addons installed... ^_^ So, lets see what happens when you install all your addons in P3D.. hopefully it will run really well even then, but until you try it... Bert

Hey Bert, hope you're doing well... yes, but I don't have the sliders set all the way to the right in FSX and I still get poor performance, now, with P3D, I set all the sliders almost all the way to the right, activated amost all the eyecandy and it performed perfectly, the planes I used, the F35A and the Bonanza. it just looks and feels better. I will install my add-ons today I think, try it again and post the result here. Best regards. Jorge Andres Brito Lozano
August 8, 201510 yr My experience with Prepar3d since I installed it for the first time several weeks ago has been second to none, it is completely superior to FSX in every single way. The only downside I have found is older and more traditional 2D panel type addons just do not work properly and come with drawbacks. If you fly with the Level-D 767 or anything as old as that for example you will see crashes and problems. Lawrence Ashworth
August 10, 201510 yr Author Good day Gentlemen, Well, I spent almost the whole weekend testing P3D and let me tell you this, The performance P3D is showing in my PC is simply exceptional, all add-ons are installed, the setting are pretty high and the eye candy is also pretty high; even with this settings, FPS are locked to 30 and that number looks completely static, it won't move at all. I love it!!!!! Thank you gentlemen for all your advise and for sharing your opinions here. My decision has been made, I will say Thank you and Good Bye to FSX. Best regards. PD.: Bert, I am sending you PM, to ask you for a favour, thanks in advance. Jorge Andres Brito Lozano
August 10, 201510 yr Jorge, I'm glad you're able to share our opinion. Yes, by far the version I am using of P3Dv2.5 is the smoothest experience I ever had, at the best graphical quality ( I never had, even when using FSX in DX10 mode with the fixer ). Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

You put them all on, and it runs badly, then you have to start figuring out what broke your system .

Hi Bobsk8, Yes, I did that, I spent almost all weekend doing it, it just works, my FSX never showed that kind of quality, it's like the best ENB series configuration built into the simulator. The only problem? I recently upgraded to Windows 10 and seems like FRAPS does not work with it, it does not record the screen, the resulting video is just a balck screen, so I am not able to actually show you what a great idea was to jump from FSX to P3D for me, does FRAPS have an active support forum or something, I bought it quite a while ago, never had a problem so I have never contacted their support. Regards. Jorge Andres Brito Lozano

Regards. I flew all the MSFS for many years, and when I started flying P3D a few months ago, I was amazed at how good it looked and how well it runs. Wouldn't run FSX if you paid me now.

August 10, 201510 yr it does not record the screen, the resulting video is just a balck screen You need to enable Desktop mode (Monitor Aero Desktop DWM) in FRAPS. However, FRAPS has a higher CPU overhead than nVidia Shadow Play so if you have an nVidia card that supports Shadow Play, I'd recommend you use Shadow Play - much more efficient at recording. Cheers, Rob.

August 10, 201510 yr I have a Nvidia GTX 970, do you know if it supports that Shadow Play Yes, you enabled it from NV experience and setup hot keys to start/stop recording. EDIT: you also have to make sure you select desktop mode also .. P3D emulates full screen, it's not a "true" full screen application. Cheers, Rob.
