July 29, 200520 yr ..appears to be imminent, judging by the rapidly rising excitement level. If you want a laugh (or cry) see some of the comments on the PMDG forum - loss of control of bodily functions, and at least one proposal of marriage. Have these people no dignity? Hope it lives up to their expectations. Ian (one eyebrow raised in astonishment)
July 29, 200520 yr Thanks for the reminder Ian. I gotta go take a look. I've been so busy with the Level-D 763 that I haven't checked on the 744 in a while. But when it comes to salivating over the release of a new highly-complex aircraft, dignity plays no role :-) .Doug Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage. You are the best ever! Its funny because its true.I haven't been on these forums for long, but I've really had my eyes opened to just how Flightsimmers can be. From experience at airliners.net I know just how bad those lot can be, but I still didn't expect some people to be so whiny, bigoted, and childish about a software product. When I first read posts about how PMDG needed to make the corners more rounded on the PFD I assumed it was a joke. It wasnt. Then more and more of these types of posts started popping up. Someone would find out some trivial non-realistic item wasn't modeled and would throw a fit, and spreading hatred towards the PMDG team. I'm simply amazed how people can hold a grudge just because one type of PLI wasn't modeled.I was bowled over by the hypocrisy of someone posting a list of demands, then saying they would'nt buy it anyway if it was over a certain amount.I'm very glad though to see that those types are the minority and that most are just happy to help out, don't take it so very seriously and know what a sense of humour is.
July 30, 200520 yr Ah, so the PFD comments made you stop and shake your head too! Mind you these were beta shots and people were acting like it was a final release. The windshield wipers issue had me in stitches. My all time favorite is the infamous dihedrial drama at Dreamfleet. Someone claimed that they could tell, just by looking, no measurments that the dihedral of the C177 Cardinal was off by 1 degree. Frankly I am probably not going to buy the 747. I like the 737 flying multiple leg hops via the Southwest and America West schedule. To me it is more fun to try and keep to the schedule that the airlines have. For Southwest after you hit the gate, I add twenty minutes to the clock and then try to get off on schedule. If I were to buy any complex jet it would be the Level D 767. If there is a great 757 out there I would take that in a heartbeat. What peeves me on the forums and it is not just on Avsim but on otheres, is two kinds of posts. The first is by someone who refuses to read any of the manual and just fires off questions because it is easier to have someone else do the work for them. They then bump the question up three times in the first ten minutes and get their shorts all tied up in a knot if nobody answers them in the first hour. The second post which grates on my nerves is someone who having a problem refuses to listen to suggested fixes and insists that it has to be the software and not the users computer. I mean, why should there be any reason you can't fly the PMDG 737 into Simflyers ORD with the sliders maxed on a Pentium 2?

Are all the planets aligned? :)-John
July 30, 200520 yr There hasn't been a Captain Sim post for a while so people are looking for a release. :-)billg
July 30, 200520 yr LOL... Good one!Funny though, I didn't understand what this issue was all about until I took up A/C design a couple years later. I used a 3-view of a Rans as a rough basis for my first project, and added the dihedral EXACTLY like it was in the 3-view, and the wing looked flat as a pancake when I compiled the model. I had to exaggerate the dihedral just to get it to look close. Ironically, in the case of the C177, I think Lou said they did the same by just one or two degrees, and the dihedral looked like it was changed much more than that. I'd be willing to bet now that I've been through it myself, that no aircraft looks exactly the same from monitor to monitor.... Everyone likely has vert and horiz width adjusted slightly different.-John

July 30, 200520 yr The aircraft is closer to release than yesterday and is even closer than it was a month ago ;D. Certainly people who desire to purchase this product should get excited , for those who are not going to purchase, nothing to report...
Randy J. Smith
Randy J Smith
