GTX 980-ti Which one though?

Got it installed and up and running now for over a week,   apart from the very obvious extra ram and over all performance the one thing that really surprised me was how much lower the temps are in comparisment to my Gtx 690,  Leaving my system and GPU on Auto (no extra fan input) it hasn't gone over 83c yet even with everything up high, one notch under max.
I thought initially as it was a super clocked version that the temps would fly up but not so.
So yes a lot of money but i am happy (so far anyway)

You know if you want to further cool your card there is a fan profile page in MSI afterburner. Im running a GTX780 and rarely goes above 73C with the sim maxed out (mostly its in 50's) . I set the GPU fan to run at 100% when it hits 50C so in effect its always full bore in the sim

Got a fan then may as well put it to work

Well, my 970 arrived; installed, driver scrubber run, shader cache and p3d.cfg both deleted and allowed to rebuild - and I am gobsmacked. In fact, my smack has never been so gobbed. I've got just about everything set to maximum, including water detail, clouds, cloud shadows, cloud coverage, draw distance etc etc, and P3Dv2.5 runs smooth as silk. The only sliders still not full to the right are the two autogen ones ( buildings and vegetation - I've kept those set to 'Dense' ) and I'm still being a little conservative with a.i.  traffic percentages. I don't need a mass of traffic, just enough to give the impression that I'm not on my own.

Good stuff, glad to hear,  yes its nice to be able to wack up some goodies and sit back and enjoy     Happy flying

I was half afraid to put the fan up to 100% as i thought it would put to much pressure on them little bearings lol  Yes i know its sounds mad alright.  I have Evga Precision so i will make a fan curve to kick in at early heat stages

Please don't shoot me, but, I've always wondered what's the deal with the fan noise? if you're running your sim, I'm sure you have speakers or head sets which puts out the a/c sounds... what do you do that you have time to hear the fan noise?   I mean are you getting off your seat, and leaning over to the case looking for the fan noise.  haha. Ok, I might sound a bit harsh, but never had any problem with hearing fan noise when running my sim or any game; even with Precision X setting my fan speed at 80%.  For idle, I would have to really lean and stick my ear on the card to hear my EVGA Card fan.

The fan noise doesn't bother me at all.

Lol, well that's true.   You are right though

If just using FSX or the Steam version, would the 980ti make any difference over a regular 980 or even a 970 for a three monitor 1080p setup using a 4790K running at 4.5Ghz?
