August 7, 200520 yr Correct. We do not want to load the current server down with all the PMDG traffic (views as well as posts) until we have a more robust machine hosting the whole forum system. PMDG has brought online a temporary forum and when we bring our new system online, we'll invite them to come back. They may decide to stick with their own, or come back... we don't know yet. But in any case, when we get the new server online, we will have a much more robust system, with all new software (we hope).
August 7, 200520 yr But, "page counts" count when selling ad space. ;-)I have my two computers set with homepage to AVSIM to help the counts. The "biggest" gets the biggest $$.Regards,BobShttp://s95171098.onlinehome.us/junk/aopa.jpgSeems the rage to talk about the "size and speed" of each others computer. Beat this if you can for solving novel/unique problem anywhere in the cosmos. ..Have K&E and know how to use it!

August 20, 200520 yr I really really hope they come back. The inability to print from their current forum makes it kind of a no go for me.I only have about 20 minutes a day or so to read this stuff, but when I am on a real life flight it makes great reading to catch up on things. I fly about 2 time a week, so for me I hope they come back.printing is no problem at work at all, I just scan the headings that interest me and print away. August 20, 200520 yr This is my personal opinion, but I feel that a developer the size of PMDG should have and maintain a forum on their own and not ride on the back of others. The same could be said of PSS regardless of whether AVSIM is looking for traffic or not. This is just the price of doing business.Cheers,JohnBoeing 727/737 & Lockheed C-130/L-100 Mechanichttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpg
August 20, 200520 yr >have a much more robust system, with all new software (we>hope). Are you referring to a new Fourm software too?
August 22, 200520 yr Hi,I have to admit the total lack of reference to PMDG AT ALL on this entire site now flabbergasts me.Did Precision Manuals really cause that much of a Faux Pax when they crashed the forum servers? It may be a little thing, but normally when a big product like the B747 is released even Avsim have a nice little reference to its release in the home page. Is there going to be a nice reveiw of it in here in the future or what?I can't afford to buy it at all (exchange rates and dialup modem kills it for this Australian). But I still wanna read all about it.I'm really surprised at the overall stance Avsim is taking towards Precision Manuals.Cheers,David

Avsim treats everyone fairly and should be commended. Avsim has to look after their service, they tried to keep the forum open but the demand was too great so PMDG opened up their own for their customers which help Avsim do it's thing in the mean time. And FYI, Avsim has a link to PMDG's forum on this forum...
Randy J. Smith
Randy J Smith
August 22, 200520 yr AVSIM provides excellent free forums for ALL of us. AVSIM had to take the forums down as a result of the overload caused by PMDG's launch.I think AVSIM is quite right to restrict access by PMDG's users/potential users as necessary to protect the interests of all AVSIM's users.PMDG is a commercial organisation and should ensure it has its own facilities for marketing, sales, and support.
