September 3, 201510 yr Flight from Payware KDCA to Payware KSTL over GEX World Textures with UTX 2.0 USA. Active Sky NEXT, 3 Cloud Layers, 83 Mile draw Distance, 80 mile View Distance, Live mode. 1024k Textures, 512 REX Soft Clouds. FPS Test. Proof of FPS in VC and max outside in the PMDG 737NGX. I have a nice flyby video doing 60 FPS too in thunderstorm clouds if anyone wants to see that. I hope this will serve as proof that YES, you can have 30+ FPS in the VC and MORE if you balance your simulation. Keep in mind, this is Prepar3D at work and not FSX:SE but since they are the Same Engine (so I hear the argument said) you should be able to get similar results PROVIDED your hardware can handle it and your OS is setup properly for simulation purposes. My hardware is fully disclosed in my profile). Cheers. September 3, 201510 yr CAUTION: DO NOT try to texture optimize the Global scenery texture folder. Keep Out! Do not touch! Do not pass go! Do not collect $200 dollars! I got so much carried away with $200 dollars that I forgot all the warnings and optimized the Global scenery folder!! Dirk.
September 3, 201510 yr You don't need to see those little tiny 3d people walking around in detailed terminal interiors smoking cigarettes and ordering a #3 combo at that McDonald's modeled in the food court of the airport terminal. LOL, You got me on that one Jude BradleyBeech Baron: Uh, Tower, verify you want me to taxi in front of the 747?ATC: Yeah, it's OK. He's not hungry. No AI traffic at an airport, like this, I can also easily maintain 30FPS in a complex VC (do not own the NG, but the QWSIM Avro). However, as soon as AI traffic is displayed, I lose sometimes 10FPS and then they are down to 20FPS. If I do screenshots comparable to your ones, I also always have fixed 30FPS. September 7, 201510 yr Thank you for your hint regarding the use of the tool, but honestly, your screenshots do not surprise me at all. However, as soon as AI traffic is displayed, I lose sometimes 10FPS and then they are down to 20FPS. If I do screenshots comparable to your ones, I also always have fixed 30FPS. There is no doubt that AI traffic from ALL of the freeware and payware options out there will destroy your simulation if used too liberally. I try to keep my AI at 30%. It gives me enough traffic to give me stuff to interact with without bringing the system to it's knees. There is AI aircraft spawned in on these shots I just didn't look over at them. I can also tell when AI are about to cause a problem too. If you have FSUIPC installed, turn on the logging window and watch as AI spawn in. If you get a rapid face full of data just spewing all over the log non-stop even after the sim has loaded all the aircraft for the airport then there is an AI causing an unnecessary drain on system resources. I have watched this happen a few times and when it happens I do see a huge punch to the simulator's gut and immediately turn off the AI. Sometimes the damage is done and I have to restart the simulator. I don't know what causes it but it can be brutal.
