Affinity Mask 14 is back and I found out why.

I/we did try to help and other tried telling you it does not do it on its own, also pointed you to that very window. But you just did not lesson and now...well. Like I've suggested many times rebuild your config and build a new one.

You only ever need to goto that window then you active a new airport etc.

Hope you how have it sorted now!

Looks like even if you started in the 80's you can still learn if you lesson.

O well live and learn.

The reason I went into that window and several other people did the same thing, was that after the update of the launcher which happened a couple of weeks ago, GSX would not start. launching P3D multiple times including rebooting PC produced No GSX or Couatl in the add on menu in P3D. The only thing that showed up was the launcher. That is when I hit the save to P3D trying to get GSX ro load again, never thinking that 12+ tweaks to my CFG would be immediately added. May I ask you a question, does P3D really need these 12+ tweaks, and if so, what does each one of them do?  Whenever I am in a program that is going to make dramatic changes to another program, I usually see some sort of warning or check box, telling me that there is a possibility of causing problems if this part of the program is activated. I saw no such warning. All I was trying to do was GSX to run after the update.

So anyway, I followed your advice, made a new CFG, and affinitymask was gone, and so was GSX again. Same problem as before, no GSX in the menu. So what worked before, I tried again, clicking save to P3D to try and get GSX to start, and it did.   Now I have read posts on  Facebook with 3 other people doing this update running into the same exact problem with P3D performance degrading in the last 2 weeks . I guess none of us are too bright.

Now look at this menu again that pops up when you start the add on manager. Do you see anywhere on that menu where it says " These settings will be saved to your P3d.Cfg file".   if you press "Save to P3D" .  Now if someone  makes it a habit of editing and looking at your CFG file you may recognize one or two of these selections , but many users would not.  If you look at the left side, it allows you to highlight " FS Dream Team"  which I did, then it allows you to highlight "GSX" , so now they are both highlighted. At that point, one would think if GSX was not starting, that something would have to occur to activate GSX other than just highlighting these two selections.  The only button that would seem to do anything is the one marled "Save to P3D".  I don't want to Buy it, Register the serial number, reinstall, or go to the web site, which are the only other available buttons to press, besides "exit" which didn't do anything when I tried it except close the launcher back down.

By the way, these "tweaks" not only resulted in blurries with the Airbus, and also over a 20% overall drop in average FPS on the same flight. Nice tweaks.

Can you show were in the Config GSX is?

Deleting you config should have nothing at all to do with GSX.

Once a month go here and DL this and see if its a new version. It might help?

That is the version 3.0.0. 7 , that  I downloaded 2 weeks ago that caused my sudden problems, and others experienced the same issue after downloading and installing it.

Referring to your images on post #1 and #16, can you change the value of the Affinity Mask or not? If you can then clicking on the button Save to Prepar3d v2 does exactly does what it's supposed to do.

You can change the value of all 12 tweaks to your CFG system. According to FSDT, in order for you to make sure that affinity mask has no effect, you have to set in to 65535 ( makes sure all your cores are enabled, (which is the P3D default).

My question to you, is knowing that fact, which of the remaining 11 tweeks would you want to be changed in your P3D config?  These tweaks, as I stated before reduced my P3D performance by over 20% and caused blurries. I am not sure if this was just the result of the affinity mask tweak, or a combination of some of the other 11 tweaks. I have been reading forums about P3D for months, and see that some users spend as great deal of time tweaking their CFG to get it exactly where they want it. I seriously doubt if they would like an instant modification of 12 of these settings just by hitting a save button in another piece of software on their system.

Deleting you config should have nothing at all to do with GSX.

There may or may not be an entry in the config file,  I have no idea. What I do know is that when I restarted P3D after deleting the config, two things happened, all my EZdok settings were change, and I discovered yesterday why that happened. The default for the wide screen setting is not checked, which messes up the EZdok settings until you recheck. The other thing that happened shortly after is that GSX would not start. Don't know why, couldn't care less. My cure, since the only gui I could access was the Add on Manager to try and get it going, was to go there. From now on, if GSX doesn't start, no bog loss. I flew without it before, I can find my way to the gate by myself, and it just isn't worth the hassle trying to fix it.

Why I should know what the settings should be for your system?

My question was, what changes in the 12 tweaks would you want changed in your system, not mine.

I wouldn't change any defaults - unless I knew what Iwas doing.

Anyway, this thread isn't about Affinity Mask settings. I was about you not  understanding what the Virtuali Add On Manager does.

True, because in my opinion, the GUI is poorly designed. It should have clearly stated somewhere  that Selecting the save to P3D button, was going to change 12 settings in the P3D.cfg file which could alter the performance of P3D. If you look at it, it doesn't state anywhere that the users CFG file will be changed, Instead it says that "tweaks will be applied globally for all P3d V2 sceneries">

Really??? What do you think a button marked "Save to Prepa3D v2" should should do - "Save to FSX"?

******* Christ! Why can´t you just admit that you have not understood anyhting!!! A lot of people have tried to help you, including "Virtuali" over in the FSDT forum, but still..... Don´t you see that you are making a fool of yourself? Even a novice PC user knows that IF you open a settings file, it might load another file, in this case P3D-cfg file. On the screen you will see the DEFAULT settings in your P3D.cfg. file. IF you change the settings in that file and save it it will sure save an edited copy of that file. If you just close the settings file, without saving it, the original file will be unchanged. You edited that file and saved it with your changes and now you blame GSX for poor GUI!

I agree with Bobsk8 - to someone not familiar with the internal workings of the sim, the wording in the addon manager UI is somewhat ambiguous. It seems to imply that pressing the "save" button is going to reconfigure/modify the SCENERIES, when in fact, it is going to modify the P3D.cfg file.

I think it is unfair to attack Bobsk8 for being "dense". Yes, he clearly understands NOW, what that button actually does, but his point is that when he initially tried using the add-on manager UI, he did not realize that he was actually re-writing his main CFG file, because of the way the UI is worded.

OK , I am stupid, happy now. I am done arguing about this.

I give up trying to reason with people that their sole intent seems  to be focused on proving someone else is moron, and they are so much smarter.   .

Why on earth would someone think that the "save" button would alter the scenery.cfg? The settings window clearely shows settings in the .cfg file.
