P3D V3 FMC memory leak back?

Featured Replies

Hey Guys,

I encounterd the same OOM problem as you all reportet here. I tried to fly IST-SFO and my VAS increased from 2.6 GB to 4 within 4 or 5 houres. I tried a flight VIE-SFO and SYD-SFO: same Problem. All arrivals were planned on 28R.

Well, I´m glad that someone has the same problems going on. I just removed the Missed Approach Code from my NavData and will give it a try tomorrow.

Does anyone discovered a solution for this since the last post?

However, thanks for your invastigations.

That worked well for me too. Removed the code and the memory leak was gone!

Unfortunately, the true solution lies somewhere within the 777 code (hopefully).  A workaround (for now), would indeed be to edit/remove leaky missed approach text from navdata.  Tedious, but a workaround.

Anyone else have data to share and try? Or am I the only one still actively trying to chase this down? I'm pretty much at a dead end other than continuing to identify airports and missed approaches that cause VAS leaks. (Just realized, unfortunately, I haven't really flown the 777 "for fun" in over a year haha, alllll VAS data gathering in one way or another - think it's finally starting to burn me out on the cause.)

Kyle,

unfortunately work has started to get in the way of lengthy periods behind the PC. That is why

I haven't dug deeper. I think you have done all you can do. I find it strange that in the months from

the first report, I at least, haven't heard any possible solutions from PMDG. I would have expected something by now. Other than what especially you have already done, PMDG have all they need to further investigate this.

Rob did respond to me in the thread announcing the latest 777 update that they have been monitoring the situation and have yet been able to find something they can actually fix regarding the leak.

Fortunately it seems to be limited to a few approache only, and your solution Kyle is a valid one until they hopefully find a permanent fix in the future. I am sure they will be able to give it a better look when they finish the B747 V2, and move to the -200ER expansion which will no doubt bring updates for the -200LR/-300ER.

I can also confirm KSFO as having this issue. I did a test by loading up the plane on the ground at a non-payware airport. I built a flight plan direct to the ILS28R and just let the plane sit with the engine running. I saw a linear decrease in available VAS over about 6 hours until it ran out.

Thanks for the info, Noah. Good to have more data points from another user here.

Several days ago I had an OOM about 7.5 hours into RJAA-EDDP. FMC was set up for NERID1W ILS 26L. I have landed many times on 26R but this was the first time for 26L. This was FSX not P3D.

From the PMDG SIDSTAR folder:

RNW 26L TRK 263 UNTIL 1.8 FROM FIX RW26L HDG 263 UNTIL 900 HDG 122 INTERCEPT RADIAL 092 TO FIX D116U FIX OVERFLY D116U TURN LEFT DIRECT FIX OVERFLY DRN37 FIX LISBA 5000

RNW 26R FIX D263A HDG 263 UNTIL 900 TRK 032 INTERCEPT RADIAL 062 TO FIX GOT39 TURN RIGHT DIRECT FIX OVERFLY GOT39 FIX OVERFLY DRN43 TURN RIGHT DIRECT FIX LISBA 5000

I thought this could possibly help.

Default RJAA and EDDP? I know the addon scenery Wing Creation RJAA takes up a lot of virtual memory but it is a nice looking airport. Aerosoft EDDP is an older scenery that might have a large vas footprint. Disregard my post if you are not using addon airport scenery though. - David Lee

Both airports are payware as you described but they have never caused a problem in the past. I fly into/out of them all the time.

You fly the route RJAA-EDDP regularly? If not then the vas footprint of both airports combined together is hitting that vas limit, with fsx not dumping all the RJAA scenery after takeoff. Do you use their optional low resolution texture set? Its on simmarket in your order page if you bought rjaa through them. - David Lee

No. 4 times in the past two months. Thanks for the info on the low resolution texture set.

Do you use the 5.1 HD sound set for the 777? I found that brings me over the vas limit very fast.

I appreciate your concern about the OOMs but as I mentioned to the OP of this thread in a PM on another subject the OOMs occur maybe 1 out of 40 flights and I use FSUIPC's Autosave So it's no big deal. It just so happened that the 1 of 40 was RJAA-EDDP. However, I just loaded the Autosave flight and continued on to EDDP.

Thank you

Edit - I don't know what the sound set is.
