January 5, 201610 yr question has to be asked why would you want to lower the gear above 250 for in the first place? Increase one's rate of descent, perhaps? Not necessarily standard, but if high and fast the option of early gear extension is not to be discounted... Simon Kelsey

It does not necessarily pertain to this aircraft, but an emergency descent in the airplane I fly calls for extension of the landing gear. The causes more drag so when you pitch down to maintain the maximum gear extension speed (181 knots in my case), your rate of descent happens quickly.
