Ottawa - Canada - Are the Parliment Buildings Supposed to be showing

Featured Replies

Interestingly I've been flying fsx for a ton of time, never went to Ottawa.  Have been exploring eastern points lately.

I have UTX, FTX Global for this area.

Flying around Ottawa I can not see any of the distinctive landmarks.  Are the Canadian Parliament buildings supposed to be represented?

Nope.  That's something that's been missed out.  There used to be some nice Ottawa landmarks for FS9, but afaik nobody has released anything for FSX/P3D.  Too bad...  I hoped Global would have added something, but nada...

on flightsim's file library theres a 4 piece scenery set that covers the city including the parliament buildings. haven't tried it myself don't know how good it is

I believe they modeled Ottawa as it was in the pre-Confederation days..

Good one Bert.  I live in Ottawa and after looking at the flightsim's downloads mentioned above, no offense to the author, but the 3D models of Ottawa buildings look like they are made by my kids using cut out cardboard

Anyway, to the OP, if you get the scenery package from Simaddons: http://www.simaddons.com/pages/simaddons_addons.htm  You will get some landmark buildings, including the Parliament.

Thanks gentlemen.  Pre Confederation it is then.

I did see the four download set and took one look at the screenies and felt it wasn't good enough for me.

I have some simaddons airports not Ottawa though, I'll check that out as well, I see the link is to P3D wonder if the FSX versions are the same...anyway I'll check that.

Simaddons CYOW only has only the Parliament building as I recall.   Buying Simaddons for FSX is a bit of a pain, since you will need to buy the Halifax scenery and then buy the CYOW pack.  If you are crafty in the art of scenery building, you could use tools to grab the free models from Google's Earth depot and convert for use in FSX, see http://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php?title=Exporting_a_GMax_object_into_FSX

Thats odd news...  I've had the SIMADDONS CYOW since it was released - and I don't have the Parliament buildings...  guess I'd better check my install!  Thanks for the tip!
