Flight Plan in Google Earth...

Featured Replies

Maybe you'll find this fun and even useful! I wrote a little page that accepts a "standard" fs9 flight plan file (.pln format), and returns a kml file that you can open in Google Earth. There you'll see all the waypoints and all the legs between them. Url: http://codexweb.atomictag.com/FPlan.aspxTell me if it works... and if you like it !!! AndreaI found a stupid bug in my page... it converts correctly only european and asian flight plans! But I'll patch this in a few hours, I'll post here when it's ok.

That sounds very cool! I'll download it a bit later nad give it a try.Adam

Ok, now the page loads and converts all flight plans...Or at least it should !!!Give it a try if you want,ThanksAndrea

unfortunately, ths only works with sun java. if you use MS java, as i do, you're out of luck. any chance of a patch to make it work with MS?Sherm

Why not just install sun java :).OHN

I'm having problems getting this program to work.I downloaded and installed from Sun the following file: jre-1_5_0_05-windows-i586-p.exe - After starting the bat file the window appearsand I select the FP but the boxes where the waypoints should be are empty. Also the Cmd prompt window pops-up with a lot of Java errormessages.Any help appreciated.

>Why not just install sun java :).>>OHNIt does not work as well as MS Java on some of the programs I use regularly.sherm

It works fine for me for standard flight plans, but I use an option in FS9.cfg:/Main/DISPLAY_FRACTIONAL_MINUTES=0When you do this, positions are displayed and saved as D/M/S:/flightplan/AppVersion=9.1.40901title=KMSY to KLASdescription=KMSY, KLAStype=IFRroutetype=3cruising_altitude=33000departure_id=KMSY, N029

On a related note, I have uploaded all the US Sectional Charts for Google Earth. You can get KMZ here.http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/showflat.php?Ca...art=&PHPSESSID=Also, you can get 3D representations of all the airspace restrictions in US from here.http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/showflat.php/Ca...page/page//vc/1Google Earth is a cool program:)MattPS, not really related to FS, but another Project I'm working on is setting up a bunch of historic topographic maps in Google Earth. Right now, they mainly just cover California.http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/showflat.php?Ca...art=&PHPSESSID=

Sorry, I don't understand: mine is a simple web page... no use of java or anything, you should receive simply html.Am I missing something?Andrea

That's something I didn't think of.Could you please send me a fplan like that thru mail? indialimaalpha (at) gmail.comThanks a lot.Andrea

Not as far as I can see. It works fine for me with FS2002 .pln's.Thanks.
