September 24, 200520 yr I know that one answer is the RXP gauges but are there something more? Can we use the skills earned in the commercial lessons (which uses a Baron) and directly use them with the DF Baron? I suppose it's not possible to do the commercial lessons with the DF Baron?
September 24, 200520 yr I was on the beta team for the Baron so I hope I can answer your question well :(.Basically everything about the Dreamfleet Baron is more detailed and accurate. The flight dynamics are significantly better, and are quite realistic according to the real world Baron pilot(s) on the beta team. The default is way too sensitive for pitch I found, making it hard to control, the Dreamfleet will be easier, yet more realistic to fly in that sense. The panel is much nicer, whether you get the light or the Reality XP versions. The gauges are much cleaner looking, the movement on them smoother, and it has a more realistic layout. With the reality XP version you get the more advanced avionics - the very realistic Garmin 530 GPS, the similarly realistic Sandel EHSI gauge (which includes a stormscope [lightning detector] and moving map, plus a lot more). You also get the new Reality XP ADI and HSI which move very smoothly - I really enjoy these gauges myself. The sounds are recorded from the actual plane, there are two engine soundsets - one that sounds quieter as if you have an ANR headset on, and another that is more like the default soundset volumes. You also get some extras, such as being able to turn the VC on and off in flight, some preflight animations such as having the plane on tie downs, and you can choose between a male or female extra pilot.Overall I'd say it is a significant improvement over the default, and as the Baron was my favourite default plane I absolutely love the Dreamfleet version.Hope that helps :>
September 24, 200520 yr Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!There is an enhancement for the default Baron in the library, the 58TC which has had the flight model tweaked, panel, model gone over etc... It's better than the default, but from pics I saw in another thread of your version...I am intrigued by the Dreamfleet version, but as of now the 'puter I fly on the most is still M.E.Best Regards, Donny:-wave
September 24, 200520 yr I was also on the Beta team but to add to David's comments-I fly a Baron for real. The resemblance to the real plane in every respect-fm, interior, instrumentation, single engine response, sounds are amazing, and the small extra features (click spots, ease of using instruments etc, speed of vc. )are too numerous to mention but add considerable dimension. The avionics of Reality Xp are a dream-I wish I could afford a suite like this in my real plane.Once I start the real Baron up-it costs me about $2.50 a minute to run-so I guess the Dreamfleet package costs the same as about 8-12 minutes time(depending on the version you get) in my real bird-barely time to taxi out. Seems like an incredible bargain to me! :-) I wish real life had bargains like this.....http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
September 24, 200520 yr Hi Geof,Your recommendation on this one is pretty telling...Best,Mike --Mike MacKuen

Does real Barons exists that is less equipped so they are most like the lite version?
September 24, 200520 yr Let me just take this opportunity to add that besides the screenshots showing the DreamFleet Baron panel in its full avionics glory with a GNS 530 (100% functional) and a Sandel SN3308 (100% functional), the Reality XP version ALSO includes the new Reality XP TrueGauge XP KI256 ADI and KI525 HSI (with the companion KA51) for simmers that want the smoothest and best analogue gauges in the market and fly the "analogue" way!More information about this can be found here:http://www.dreamfleet2000.com/rxp_flt.htmSo in turn, with the Reality XP version you get both the "electronic" version, and the "analogue" version!Hope this helps!
September 24, 200520 yr Jean Luc beat me to post!I am using the second version of the Reality Xp which is essentially my cockpit (it is a 58 so there are small differences). As Jean Luc mentioned it has a better working Reality xp steam hsi and adi but you also get the garmin 530 in the panel (which is about as close to a kln94 as I can get right now in the fs world).Like he said-the analog version is there also.However-I like to dream and use the macho version too....http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
September 24, 200520 yr I'd think so. The default FS2004 Garmin GPS 500 isn't exactly cheap in real life, I'd imagine. The "Lite" version still has two NAV/COMs, an ADF, a sophisticated GPS (the FS2004 default), and a full two-axis autopilot. That's a pretty nice set of avionics.I've only messed with the Lite version about 45 minutes, but I'll say this, it's good. REAL good. It's a bit hard on my somewhat older system (Athlon XP 2500, 1 GB RAM, Geforce 6600GT 128 MB AGP) and the textures switching in and out of the VC take several seconds to load, much like the Bonanza A36. The VC response is improved over the A36, the gauges are a good bit smoother and the VC is fantastic to fly from. She flies like a dream. And buddy, she is *gorgeous*. Can't wait to get some more time in on her.If you're not insistent upon the RXP gauges, I'd say $18.95 for the Lite version is a pretty good deal. I've already got all RXP's Garmin stuff, the WX500, and the Sandel, so I'll be fitting those in there.EDIT: Hey Jean-Luc, out of curiosity, what's a KA51? I see you keep referencing with the HSI, but some of us don't know our Bendix-King avionics catalogs and don't know what that is! :)Lewis "Moose" GregoryRichmond, Virginia Lewis "Moose" Gregory Durham, North Carolina
September 24, 200520 yr Hi, here is a short description of it: the Reality XP baron comes with the KA51 and simulates gyro drift. The KA51 is the pilot's interface to the slaving device.====================================Slaving Meter (KA 51B)This meter indicates any difference between the displayed heading and the magnetic heading. Right or up deflection indicates a clockwise error of the compass card. Left or down deflection indicates a counterclockwise error of the compass card.Whenever the aircraft is in a turn and the card rotates, it is normal for this meter to show a full deflection to one side or another. The KA 51B Slaving Control and Compensator Unit is a smallslaving accessory which can be used in installations where panelspace is limited. The KA 51B can be mounted either vertically or horizontally.=====================================Complete information can be found here:https://www3.bendixking.com/static/catalog/...hString=KFC+225then download the "KFC 225 KCS 55A 006-18035-0000 PILOTS GUIDE 1 SEP/2004 " (the second one)Hope this helps!
September 24, 200520 yr Yes, it does, thank you! I've always wondered what those switches were on some panels.Lewis "Moose" GregoryRichmond, Virginia Lewis "Moose" Gregory Durham, North Carolina
September 25, 200520 yr Hello All, I also was a beta tester for the Baron, and although in the later stages Katrina sort of put me out of commission and ended MY testing, what I had experienced up to that point was pure pleasure. I've flown a Baron on several occasions, and as usual, the DF offering was just about 'spot' on the money. It's really hard to beat these guys when it comes to a flight model which mimicks the original. The Baron is a winner for sure!Best,Clayhttp://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...ers/Dopke01.jpgClayton T. Dopke (Clay)Major, USAF (retired)"Drac"
September 25, 200520 yr I cannot agree more with Lewis has said. It's a winner. The price is right, too - this is an outstanding add-on with real value for the money.
September 28, 200520 yr Sorry to post so late on this thread guys,FANTASTIC AIRCRAFT. Nothing in the GA range comes close this this. The realism in the cockpit is stunning and really involving and good as the default Baron is this is in a completely diffirent league.I've had the privalage of trying it with the full Reality XP kit and with the new ST3400 ground proximity system and this all works like peas in a pod.If you have been flying jets recently then this will be a lot of fun.On my list of favorties now without question and last night I managed to wake my wife up at 4AM with the warnings working aloud.I got a good telling of for that. LOL
September 28, 200520 yr Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!You are flying with an engine out, whether it fails or you did it deliberately, then land. You turn off the runway and hold short of the intersecting taxiway. You recieve taxi instructions, then have to make a sharp turn from a dead stop into the operating engine. Can you do it?A lot of twin props that fly realistically on one engine have problems plenty taxiing on one. I don't know if it's important to anyone else, but it would be a selling point for me.Best Regards, Donny:-wave
