Scenery config error

Featured Replies

I'm new to this site so I hope I'm posting this in the right place.

I keep getting the following error when I start FSX:

Scenery.Config file error Invalid remote path in scenery area 116. click OK to continue.

When i click OK FSX starts but I want to get rid of this error as it comes up every time I start FSX.

When I look up scenery area 116 in the scenery.config it says as follows:

[Area.116]

Title= Istanbul

Local=116

Active=True

Required=True

I guess the problem is the path how do I correct this.

Thanks

Scott

Try this or similar -

[Area.116]
Title=Istanbul
Local=Scenery\Cities\Istanbul
Layer=116
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE

I just tried that but it did not help.  Still get the same error.  I think its the path that isn't correct do you know how I can check the path.

Thanks

Scott

Are you checking the correct scenery.cfg?

The working copy is not the one in the FSX folder, it is in...

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX

I looked for the Scenery.config you are talking about Joe. The one in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX and it says in area.116 and it reads as follows.

[Area.116]

Title=Addon Scenery

Layer=116

Active=TRUE

Required=FALSE

Before I was looking at the scenery.config in C:\Users\Scott\Appdata\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX and is reads as I posted earlier.  So from what you are saying that's on the right one.

What is wrong in [Area.116] it looks like this is  Addon scenery.  This all started after I had a problem getting Flytamps Toronto scenery to work. I eventually got it to work but was let with this issue.  Is it possible this is an empty or invalid layer.  How do I overcome this error.

Thanks for the Help

Scott

Thanks for the link but I'd like to see if I can find out what is wrong here so I understand FSX better.  If all else fails I will definitely  give it a try.

Thanks

It is missing a path.

Add...

Local=Addon Scenery

...after the Title= line.

That worked I got rid of that error.  Now I am stll getting this error that always followed the first:

Flight Simulator attempting to start

"as_btstrp_config_manager"

(Version 1.0.1.1, config entry number 2)

Do you want to run this program?

    Yes?         No?

I thought If I got rid of the first error this one would go too but apparently not.  Any Idea how I can get rid of this one.

Thanks

Scott

That's not an error.

In EXE.XML file you have an entry for "as_btstrp_config_manager.exe" and  manualLoad is set to True.  Change it to False and the error will go away.

Hopefully!  It could be dll.xml. I don't have FSX open at the time. :-)

Thanks Ernie.  Actually I searched for other posts on this topic and found the same advise and had just fixed it before I got back to see your post.  But thanks all the same.   As I said at the beginning of this post I am new to this site but already I can see this is a great site with some very helpful people.  I just wanted to say thanks to all the people that offered assistance.

Thanks
