Night Enviroment Impressive

Hi Everyone,

I left these settings for Gerard in another topic today, thought I'd copy and paste here as well. Keep in mind, your monitor will play a roll in the view you obtain with my settings... You may still need to tweak a bit. Also keep in mind, my camera does not do this setup justice. Camera does not like low light, doing everything I can to make it work.

I have the following setup in P3D3.2.

1. My UHDTV's are set to "DYNAMIC" at night / "NATURAL" during the day - Set via TV remote "MENU/PICTURE" sub menu.

2. In P3D3.2 I have the following:

Brightness: 0.45

Bloom: 3.00

Saturation: 1.65

TESS: OFF

Interesting Mike - tess of here = not as good performance - have to revisit that - I would think if its off you are not using your video cards to their capability - can you explain - thanks

It is really impressive.   I also have to add (sorry if this comment bothers some), that X-Plane 10 looks pretty much like that out of the box!

Hi,

With tess on, I seem to lose the effect at night. When I turn off tess it looks better. I haven't noticed a performace drop, but I'm using three Titan X's in SLI that are superclocked via Surround. TESS is set to low in scenery, the Tess hardware box is checked.

Yeah, I've been seeing this same thing though haven't tried it yet either.  Did a flight last night over NE British Isles and it was pretty good.  But, the lights weren't as bright as they could(should?) have been.  Hopefully will get some night flying in this weekend and test it out too.

On a side note, Mike, I just placed an order for my first FDS products!!  I'm getting their new MCP/EFIS(currently not available on their website), their CDU and their landing gear lever for now.  Can't wait!!!  The build has begun!!  :)

Hi Kevin,

That's great. Good luck with the build.

Hey Rich, just want to make sure I got it right. I just looked at the sim.

Hardware Tessellation box is checked in GRAPHICS and Tessellation Factor under SCENERY is LOW. Even though I'm still tweaking, hard to shake the FSX habit.

Thanks for sharing. I thought you meant you had the "Tessalation" box un-ticked. Will try your settings and report back!

This my view into the night. I asked the controllers from Zurich to shut down the taxiway and runway lighting to make an even better screenshot... B)

As I wrote in the other NE topic :

I use Bloom=10 instead of the default 3.0 --> manuallly modified the cfg setting...

My settings : 0.30 - 10.0 - 0.80

The above screenshots are with these settings ( I like dark clouds and underground at night )

nice work there Gerard,
the excessive bloom washes out the orange nicely,
I’d probably opt to get little more color depth there as my personal preference; maybe 0.30 - 10.0 - 0.90
in a long distant view; this will give you better defined roads,

Tomorrow I will surely try your suggestion.

Topic closed as this is the Screenshot Forum.  Post your screenshots in separate topics.  I will now have to go through this topic and split the screenshots from this topic to separate topics. Lots and lots of work....

So, if you have a topic to show what the great night lighting from Night Environment shows, then post them separately.  Please confine your issues with something in the main forums.  Thanks for everyone's cooperation.
